AI Derangement Syndrome / Anti-AI artists / Pro-AI technocultists / AI "debate" communities - The Natural Retardation in the Artificial Intelligence communities
AI mistranslation is a step too far but maliciously localizing media to the point it's so far off base it eclipses mere mistranslation, descending into the realm of something else entirely is a-ok.
Well, it seems like the era of grifters doing shallow commentaries on adult cartoons is coming to an end since they're so mediocre a machine commandeered by a guy in Uttar Pradesh can do it. And honestly? This is for the better. Get a real job, suckers!
What, are you expecting them to say "no it's not, Google search is so great?" It's shit because of specific bad decisions Google has made unrelated to the tech itself. Ironically it would probably provide better information if it just gave you an answer from the LLM rather than summarizing search results.
same reply, every time. Just like clockwork.
AI is perfect, it can't be an actual redundant shit made by retards millennials that looks for a quick buck, oh no. It's a gift from the tech gods.
Even in this thread, the same double standards applies. If Big Tech does something, that's bad, but if it's related to 'AI' then it's great.
Even the translators are getting less useful ever since they've implemented LLMs now, but you're so far in denial that you will defend it regardless lol. Google Translator now makes the same mistakes it used to make when the "1.0" released, around 15 years ago. And all of its forks are following suit.
Honestly, same can be said about the "proof" brought in threads like these. Which are circumstantial at best. Whenever someone warns about it, he's a retard a cow and he must be ostracized from everything. If some tech troon then say that AI is good, then he's the only based troon in the whole net.
You're no different than the AI-based subreddits, saw similar replies from them too. OpenAI saying that there's not enough data to train models will never stop to amuse me. Oh, want to talk about the "less censored" models from China? 'Cuz that not being in denial, those are based, especially because the training data is actually harvested from all citizens and the use case is basically better surveillance. Being defended on Kiwifarms, because its AI.
Honestly, it's fun to see, it's the exact repeat of history.
I'm fairly sure you'd fit greatly in r/eacc and all the various e/acc circlejerks.
It's also amazing how these threads sentiment always shifts and devolves from discussion into people seething because they can't be arsed to make an effort and put some hard work into arts. Powerleveling, but who cares: it reminds me of some former colleagues that basically hated all of their other colleagues because they were the smart ones, they were the ones that had ideas to "optimize" the workplace, basically removing all worker rights and pauses. I mean, I detest furries and troons, but instead of fucking up art in general, I'd rather beat them at their own game. Half the posts here boiled down to "haha, this will show them! Because surely, they are the majority!". Just like anOminous said, it's always the mediocrity that praise mediocrity. The programmers I met all detest this shit.
I'm not sure if this point has been made but I think the whole of this issue is the type of art. The only people who are upset are people who do fan art primarily for their income. People who do original pieces aren't sweating because y'know the whole "ai can't create" thing.
I feel like it's going to be like Microtransactions and lootboxes, which are business practices that the consumers don't like, but it's so common and prevalent that people begrudgingly put up with it. I argue it already happened with Facebook going through legal wars with the federal government regarding data collection, yet even now we see companies collect data for profit.
Yes, actually. When trannies say "oh gee whiz another attack helicopter joke, you bigots have exactly one joke, come up with new material," you still call them a tranny and keep identifying as that helicopter. Because it continues to neatly dismantle their entire argument.
When something is true, when an argument is effective, you're going to read it over and over again. Pointing out that you've seen it before doesn't win you any rhetorical points. Seethe.
So are we against AI because companies are pushing it out before it's ready, or are we mad that companies aren't updating things quickly enough? This reads as impotent lashing out at anything you can find fault with, without considering whether it fits into your argument or not.
This just supports my statement that Google is fucking up. Whether that's a bad implementation of AI search integration or failing to improve their translation. I've found that barebones ChatGPT does a better job than Google Translate.
Innit weird how the thread is for both pro-AI and anti-AI hysteria, and yet the people who are anti-AI who show up rarely post funny things happening on pro-AI side and resort to paragraph-long seething?
> still has no retort for the fact that his own arguments don't make sense in context with each other
Thanks for the reminder about that insane troon, I was going to see about archiving his channel since it's all batshit lunacy and lolcow material beyond this thread
>corpo AI companies go bankrupt
>massive models released to public and billions of dollars of hardware sold for cheap
>open source AI companies and enthusiasts buy up A100s for $1k each
this would be the good ending of openAI and anthropic and google going bankrupt, which will never happen
I didn't knew not wanting AI was marxism. What does that make China, then, considering that they've been using and training AI for decades now?
I don't care if you cry so much that you report me to papa null to threadban me, I'm still trying to understand what kind of logic is behind you. Because this really feels like a circlejerk, all you do is seethe and insult at the first sign of someone not agreeing with you. Not even the Anti-Men thread reeks this much of piss and wine compared to the tens of AI threads, all of which, again, devolved into you all parroting the same spiel that "W tech, L art, everyone else but us are retarded".
and then deleted it (No idea why a janny would delete it otherwise). The only reason I was able to dredge this back up is because it was still quoted in my reply box after I decided to not bother replying to it last night. There was another paragraph as well were he accused us of being accelerationist cultists but I didn't reply to that part so it has been lost. Seethe harder.
Yes, on scientific fields. Generative AI, however, is a joke. People mostly use it for goofing around or advertising for their small businesses and every time it's used in a more serious manner (i.e. the coca cola commercial or tiktok horror stories), people call it out for what it is: slop. Like NFT's, companies will try pushing it down our throats, create the most abysmal looking piece of media and be called out for it, then keep doing it until they eventually fail and move onto the next "current thing". Generative AI has no future in the industry since it will always produce the average of whatever they were prompted to generate and the "WAAAAHHH IT'S GONNA TAKE OUR JOBS!!!!" shit is just mass hysteria, unless they actually work on some shovelware movie.

Keep in mind all the ways that you WON'T see it, or won't be able to tell: initial character design/brainstorming, storyboarding/prototyping, mockups/placeholders, stock image and video with no obvious errors that get used unwittingly, neutral backgrounds of ads and corporate art, game textures or models where "good enough" will suffice (or just the first pass on such textures), movie props like newspapers or fake brands or paintings, literally anyone using Photoshop generative fill...the list goes on and on.
It's so hard to get it to work. It just won't recognize that Sneed is supposed to be a singular object. I hit my usage limit before it worked, anyone else want to try?
Edit: It's spitting errors whenever I try to do a George Floyd meme, so it may have a content filter. Or maybe I'm just banned.
