The feds probably gave Microsoft a slap on the wrist because Microsoft settled. Settling is always easier and almost always gets you a favorable deal. Also, Gates stepped down as CEO, so that was something of a scalp. As for throwing everything into gaming, I think that this was a simple business mistake by Microsoft. Google is the real winner since they control information flow more than any other Western company.
I agree with you that Zuckerberg is taking the Musk tack and telling politicians to suck his cock. Him spilling the beans on the Hunter Biden laptop story was one of the biggest fuck yous I've seen in a while.

Surprise Surprise after a "diligent search" Fanni Williams's DA office has disclosed that they indeed do no have any records of Fanni communicating with Jack Smith or the Biden Whitehouse.
Regarding “[a]ll documents and communication sent to, received from, or relating to Special Counsel Jack Smith or any employees in his office,” a diligent search indicates that no such documents or communications exist.
And even if these document did exists, which of course they do not, they would be disclosed due to:
Regarding “[a]ll documents and communication sent to or received from the United States House January 6th Committee or any of its employees,” a diligent search indicates that any such documents and communications are “legally exempted or excepted from disclosure” under O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-72(a)(4), 50-18-72(a)(41) and 50-18-72(a)(42). Per the direction of the Superior Court’s Order, the Office informs the Plaintiff that the records are exempted/excepted from disclosure because they arose from the investigation, subsequent indictment, and prosecution in case number 23SC188947; are subject to attorney-client privilege; and are confidential work product. As a result, they are records in a pending, ongoing criminal investigation and prosecution.
And it would certainly have nothing to do with Trump planning on investigating Alvin Bragg of New York for:
...the engagement letter showing New York County District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg paid $900 per hour for partners and $500 per hour for associates to the Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher law firm for the purpose of suing Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) in an effort to shut down the House Judiciary Committee’s oversight investigation into Bragg’s unprecedented indictment of former President Donald Trump.
TLDR: In short we don't give a rats ass what the judge says your not getting your hands on these documents because if you did we would all go to jail for colluding to put Trump in jail despite him having committed no crimes. So nah nah!

For the most recent big Xbox anniversary Microsoft produced a whole well made documentary on the origins.
Not to be cocky, Bill Gates is definitely more business savvy than me. But it's incredible that it was a bunch of nerdy Canadians (Blackberry) and finally Apple who understood that people would appreciate having tiny computers they can keep in their pockets.

Because going after specific high-value targets necessarily requires some degree of intelligence and forethought, and people with the ability also tend to be people with the most to lose. It doesn’t take a lot of intelligence to strangle random prostitutes and it doesn’t take a lot of effort to get away with it because cops don’t enough of a shit about dead hookers to actually investigate it seriously. The same is not true of CEO’s. Theoretically it wouldn’t actually be that hard to kill them, but getting away with it would be nearly impossible. If you’re smart enough to successfully plan and carry out the assassination of a CEO, you’re smart enough to recognize that you are trading a life for a life. Their life for yours, either ventilated by their security or behind bars.
Even if you *do* manage to escape immediate identification, you’re going to live the rest of your life in constant paranoia, never knowing if one day you might go home to a dozen cop cars in front of your house. You’d pretty much have to flee the country, and even then there’s never a guarantee that you’re in the clear - just that the Feds are going to need to put in more effort to nab you. In many ways living in constant paranoia can be worse than life in prison, so there’s really no winning.

DoJ found that FBI had no "undercover employees" at Jan 6th, but had 26 confidential human sources president, all of which were directed to not break the law. Nevertheless, only 9 of them did not break the law. None were procecuted for illegal acts

CHSs (informants) were probably too giddy about the situation and didn't want to miss the chance to see some potential action and get everyone next to them sent to prison in the process. These people aren't always the smartest, as seen in the Gretchen Whitmer kkidnapping case where their guy could've jeopardized the entire operation and its legality.
