Former U.S. House of Speaker Nancy Pelosi was rushed to a hospital in Luxembourg on Friday after she took a “hard fall” down a marble staircase.
Pelosi, 84, tripped as she walked down the staircase at the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg City, a source told The New York Times. The paper reported later Friday that the longtime lawmaker fractured her hip in the tumble.
Pelosi was in the country as part of a bipartisan Congressional delegation that traveled to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.

The injury came during an “official engagement,” her office said. She plans to continue working from her hospital bed.

Ian Krager, a spokesperson for the lawmaker, said in a press release that she is receiving “excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals.”
“She continues to work and regrets that she is unable to attend the remainder of the [delegation’s] engagements,” he said.
He added that Pelosi “looks forward to returning home to the U.S. soon,” but didn’t offer an estimate into when she’d be headed back stateside.
The U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg posted a photo of Pelosi prior to her hospitalization. In it, she’s seen standing awkwardly while gripping the hand of Republican Rep. Michael T. McCaul.
It’s unclear exactly when Pelosi was taken to the hospital, but a source told the Wall Street Journal that the lawmaker’s fall came shortly after a group photo was taken. A second source told the paper that Pelosi could walk and was alert.

Pelosi has a special tie to the key WWII battle she traveled to commemorate, in which outnumbered Allied forces fended off a German advance in the Ardennes. Her uncle, John ‘Johnny’ D’Alesandro, was killed during the battle.
“There wasn’t a day that went by that my father didn’t mourn the loss of his brother,” she recalled in a statement in 2010.
Pelosi’s hospitalization revamped calls for term limits in Congress from some conservative influencers, including Riley Gaines. Pelosi has been in Congress since 1987 and was Speaker of the House twice, between 2007 and 2011 and again between 2019 and 2023.
There were already widespread calls for term limits this week after Sen. Mitch McConnell, 82, fell at the Capitol on Tuesday and received medical attention for a sprained wrist. He’d previously suffered a pair of incidents where he appeared to freeze suddenly in front of reporters last year.

Well, she's on a countdown now. Falls and breaks that affect your ability to care for yourself are bad when you're that age, but the hip is the absolute worst.
It's over. Start the clock.
I don't say this with glee, however, her hunger for power has done this to her.
Eschewing her privilege to live it up in luxury and stop fucking around in the political sphere like a mad entitled, aristocrat has led to her downfall.

Even when you have pelosi money. At that age, the fall is inevitably the beginning of the end. Break a hip, you get a year at the outside.
Pretty sure this is how RBG went out too. Too bad Pelosi doesn't have the cult of personality Ruth did. While I try not to dance on anyone's grave, the liberal woman freak out over every health issue with RBG was a fucking hoot to watch. She falls down, they call for someone to donate their healthy hip, get checked for blood/marrow donations, and all other sorts of shit. Pelosi goes down, and pretty sure everyone just wants to get a match near her to see if what's left of her blood in vodka stream will ignite.

Depends. My mother-in-law's decline was hard and slow, over some years. She passed away in March of this year. It was really bad near the end. Was glad to see her suffering over. She was 95.

We can only hope when it's our time that we go in our sleep, go quickly, or never know what hit us, vice dying a little more every day. Not just hard on the person, but hard on the family, as well.

My grandmother was 80 when she fell and broke her hip, and she's still alive four years later because she actually cared about wanting to get out of bed and move about. She recovered pretty fast for an elderly woman and still lives on her own on the top floor of an old folks' commune. She's not even the richest nor healthiest person in the world (she's gotten more frail now, but she's still lively), so Nancy has no excuse to not recover and live another several years.

Legit, if my grandmother outlives Nancy, that'd be the funniest shit, and I think she has a chance to live past Ruth Bader Ginsberg's age.

Not to invoke any hostile spirits; I'm almost wanting the same spirit that's inhabiting Ralph to also inhabit Pelosi. They're already both alcoholics who have a hard time standing up; I want Nancy to get belligerent as shit before she goes.

These people could have always been the "power behind the throne" if they left ages ago and became like the American Tony Blair, he's been practically puppeteering the UK with his Institute for years. They all talk just like he does too.

IIRC, the progressives hated Pelosi and wanted AOC to take her place as Speaker of the House. It was Trump and his supporters who made sure Pelosi kept her position so she could go on to rip up the stories of the service of our veterans.

Who even likes Pelosi besides neolibs and Republicans? Nobody. And like Joe Lieberman, she will be forgotten when the Reaper comes for her next.
