It was removed because the site is dying and they realized advertisers would be more amenable to a site that doesn't hide its porn boards but is united in one than a site that's split into two and has boards filled with softcore porn anyway.
I’ve always enjoyed the irony of NEET moderators being tasked to figure out what constitutes “Not Safe For Work” images.

Me and friends went on a virtual urban decay tour with 4chan last night, and the results say it all:

  • 4chan's blog has not been updated in eight years
  • the Press page has not been touched since 2011 and 3/4ths of the news article URLs 404 or redirect to home pages
  • the page with a message to japanese users (all 0 of them) is so old it talks about the site being under active construction and says to email moot
  • the site news feed has only been birthday art for the past six years and counting, the last non-birthday update was in 2018 for that vtuber competition that went nowhere
  • the oekaki board has a surprisingly big issue with data decay even compared to /po/ where even OP images fail to load or just load thumbnails
  • many of the boards are redundant and can be merged (both wallpaper boards, having a car board while having a generic transportation board) or are comatose or flat dead (/po/ and /qa/)
  • the fact /f/ exists when active SWF creation is long gone and it's supported entirely by Ruffle and swfchan at this point

And to top it off, I finally got around to using /mlp/ as a guinea pig for the general thread spam problem and the end result is 75 out of 138 threads are generals, a 54% ratio. Then you go around the rest of the site and you start to recognize just how many threads on boards now are just generals in all but outright saying it and it's an eye opener, /b/ being the easiest example to use.

I hope losing 2/3 of site traffic, being spammed with tranny porn ad banners and taking until 2024 to do basic shit 8chan did a decade ago like allow MP4 files was worth it to Hiroshima and all the regressive millenials still actively using the site, time's marched on and turned it into the Bronx in 1975.

Stuff like the news and press pages and blog don't get updated because the userbase stopped caring. The sense of an overall 4chan community hasn't existed for at least 14 years. People began just sticking to their few favorite boards, then sticking to their favorite generals. They didn't care, so moot stopped caring, and Hiro sure as shit doesn't give a fuck.

As far as board maintenance goes, again, Hiro doesn't care nor pay attention to anything, and the unpaid custodians don't have the permission/access to change anything for the better. The rot will simply continue.

Still no audio for webms/mp4s outside of /wsg/ and /gif/ is hilarious tbh. People posting movie clips on /tv/ or news clips on /pol/ are still shit out of luck.

I'm starting to wonder the what the autism/schizo-to-bot-ratio is, since a good chunk of boards are the same dozen topics, questions, shitposts, bait, flamewars, etc., especially on /v/idya boards, that've been posted for years ad nauseam. It blows my mind that I'll see the same topics and low quality bait/flamewars from the previous week for months, when visiting for only once a week.
It's so damn repeatative. That hypocrite ABIB was on to something:

Abib is the exact reason why /v/ is so shit in the first place, so he can kiss my ass. Remember, that's the same guy who culled SCP multiplayer and Snoot Game threads but considers Smash Brothers a "Cultural Phenomenon".

Absolutely fucking keyed, ABIB did nothing wrong.

Abib is also the one who filtered "soy" because the soyjak memes genuinely made him shit himself in anger. This seething hatred of soyjaks would indirectly lead to their exodus to /qa/, which would later be torched down by /lgbt/ jannies. He's one of the biggest, most incompetent retarded mods on the site, arguably one of the faces of modern day cuckchan.

I reckon about 70-80% of /v/'s game awards pinned thread were largely shills. I think anonymous posting is actually fucked now unless corporations and government organizations don't know about it.
I have to say, this feels like the end of an era. I'm not saying the internet is done, but definitely anonymous internet. It's become so Orwellian with surveillance and people trying to manipulate it for gain (profit or strategic) that it's getting very hard to actually have real conversation on a thread without some shill astroturfing the thread with weak obvious bait. AI is also another threat, but honestly it's far easier to perturb into making actual decent content online. Shills are just braindead people that can't make good OC at ALL.

But, I will say that unless non-anonymous internet ditches MFA and stops cucking to authorities so much - that shit won't even replace it and soon these corporations will find that they have no more audience to advertise and shill to.

And IRL groups and cliques are the next target, but already I've been with groups and communities that catch such sockpuppets out. You can tell because they make shit conversation and are afraid of getting loose. They just don't act normally and then when you ask about things they tend to disappear and have replacements. Very subtle. When you have thousands of public relations and advertising firms with more and more nefarious marketing strategies, your state quickly becomes worse than the Soviet Union with people manipulating groups. Forget cops, corps are the biggest most likely threat to put people in your lives, your groups, your hobby communities and around your families to fuck with them nowadays.

I thought I would post on 4chan for the first time in a year long break. 15 fucking minute wait and I have to disable my VPN while taking off private browsing.

4chan is dead.
Oh and you have to accept Google analytics through no script now. It won't post otherwise.
I thought I was getting filtered, but it turns out there must be a google data check on you now to post.
All so corps can spam general after general, which they groom with their shills that do nothing but cheap trolling to keep it on the front page. Then they delete your OP which is not a general because it's competing with these generals and likely get reported by these assholes.

The few times I've been tempted to post on 4chan - usually some trivial comment on /toy/ - I get whacked with the timer. So now I don't post on 4chan at all.

At this point let it die, I'll browse it over Tor to make it less useful for data harvesting, after all I can't practically post regardless of clearnet status.

Which one isn't a loli franchise

moot stopped caring
moot deliberately sabotaged any remaining vestige of the community in the aftermath of GamerGate and his incessant attempts to "fit in" with the burgeoning soyllennial techfag leftist clique that was starting to come up in the journo-media-vidya scene, that has now practically engulfed the entire world.

Hiro doesn't give a single fuck. Anyone that actively posts on 4chan is being datamined and having their email and posting habits sold to whoever wants to buy it. It's why /v/, /pol/, and the remaining actually-active boards have activity mostly shunted into generals that go on entirely too long. It's for datamining + corralling for lazy jannies.

I think KF is fine. Most of my online socializing these days is on very few traditional forums like KF, relatively small Telegram and Discord chats, and my X account (where I ignore 99.8% of the users and block or mute spammy/obnoxious accounts liberally).

Present day 4chan isn't really any different from reddit other than you can say "nigger" on some boards and not catch a ban. In fact, I've gotten good answers from reddit to questions I had, whereas I can't remember a single time in recent years I got a good answer to anything from 4chan. So in that sense, reddit is actually more useful to me than 4chan now.

/pol/ used to be pretty good for following breaking news. Anons were very good at aggregating the latest information. Sure, you'd always have a few schizos shitting up happening threads, but these days it seems like happening threads are *full* of schizos and morons trying to one-up each other's Dunning-Kruger effect. Most info comes from anons posting X links that contain the latest info. You're better off skipping the /pol/ middleman and just checking X directly.

You forgot that a lot of the stickies on smaller hobby boards like /ic/ have dead links, and the mods are more likely to ban you for pointing it out than to edit the sticky, which would only take a minute. It's funny how they have time to eviscerate the site with increasingly complicated captchas (which bots and spammers bypass using autocomplete), 10-minute wait times for new posters, and email requirements, yet they won't bother fixing their own fucking stickies.
