Is it really worth getting all of the jobs up to max? I heard that you unlock some rewards/quests for doing so, but... never really did give it a try. I've been stuck trying to figure out which classes to run, period.

Incidentally, I do have another Ranged DPS question; how's Machinist doing these days? I know Bard's got decent damage and solid team abilities, and Dancer is a great support job, but I haven't heard many things about Machinist; any comments?

machinist is FUBAR because it's balanced as if it still has Hot Shot's 10% damage boost despite it being removed in shadowbringers

Ah, yeah, I remember you mentioned that a few days ago; sorry. Bit surprising that the devs have neglected MCH so much; I remember seeing some really negative shit about the job back in Endwalker, about how people couldn't even complete some fights because the DPS was so low compared to other Ranged jobs. Devs didn't do much then, either; one of my favorite comments then was "Machinist mains would be on suicide watch, but their guns don't do enough damage to kill themselves".

Bit of a shame; the job does look cool, and I'd love to have a proper gun/mechanic job, but it sounds like the devs are too busy giving Picto more damage.

Picto more damage.
the problem is that certain jobs get benefits from downtime, and certain ones don't.
Pictomancer objectively benefits from downtime, it can paint its motifs. Samurai can use Meditation. Black Mage can stack Xenoglossy via Umbral Soul. Reaper can use Soulsow, but that's it. Bard even got objectively negatively affected by downtime back when songs required a target.

Makes me wonder how a MCH could benefit, assuming it got a proper rework; clipping bullets into a magazine? Charging the Overheat gauge? No idea. Doubt the devs know, either.

Literally just add Hot Shot back as it worked in Stormblood.

Imagine playing Reaper without Shadow of Death (30s +10% damage debuff gcd that can be stacked to 60s on targets, now replace the scythe with a gun, and that's how Machinist plays.

Anyway...

I wish the Crafter class final quests actually gave you a second set of custom deliveries instead of just being a regular quest. All that's left now is the juice stall quest story and all my crafter quests are done

Not really and you don't get much out of it other than being able to do whatever role quest you want, as you want.

I just stick to having one of every role leveled (Tank, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS, Caster, Healer) for that purpose.

Not at all. I got every class to 90 on an alt using Road to 80 when they added new worlds to my data centre last year, which cuts down the time by a fair bit and it was still a massive slog. I did end up levelling all my Casters to 100 for Dawntrail and I might do Healers just to get the Arbiter of Magic title, but I doubt I'll be able to bring myself to level every tank. They all play basically the same and tanking in dungeons is incredibly fucking dull. The Amaro from Shadowbringers was kinda cool but an Outrunner? No thanks.

It can be worth it to level classes that share gear so you have some options for hard content, or do one of each role like @Gravemind suggested, but eh.

I respect the time you people sink into ff14 for leveling shit. I wish i had that free time. That said im fairly content in just leveling up shit i like.
Sorry to doublepost but yeah it's just eaten up all my free time after work basically. Unless you really, really like seeing those little orange numbers or like collecting mounts like me, it's not worth it.

This is basically what I was thinking on my end; I'm not the biggest completionist, but I do try to experience the story as much as possible. Hence, I've been trying to figure out which jobs to try and run; I won't have the most amount of time to play when I do renew my sub - life's getting busier - but I'm definitely looking to getting all of the Role quests for both combat and crafting jobs done.

Escorting the kami from Four Lords to a furry convention in Kugane wasn't something I expected to do in this questline. Apparently furry degeneracy has spread across Hydaelyn. Varis was right to want to purge these lands.

From what I've heard, Soroban does take the piss out of the costumes and such during the quest, at least. Still, you think the Four Lords would've chosen something less... conspicuous.
