I played the game maybe a dozen times way back in the early 2010s, because people at work were into. Our boss would even play with us on our lunch breaks (either LoL or Dominion; we had a few expansions decks). I didn't realize there was story or lore in there; just thought it was some type of MMO/free-to-play/RTS. So I approached the series thinking the game didn't really matter at all (I guess the story is told in codecs, or there are cut sequences once you play so many games?)

All this gay shipping stuff is super cringe. I generally hate the Gayification of History. There's a book called The Secret Chord, where the author does a Game of Thrones style dramatization of the biblical story of King David. Of course, in the story, he's fucking one of his men (Johnathan/Yonatan). In the Bible, the two characters are very close male friends and nothing more. I think there's a big problem with world culture today and the fact that we can't have portrayals of real brotherly love or enduring friendships without it having to include fucking. People literally try to say Bashir and O'Brien from Star Trek DS9 were really gay. Wouldn't such friendships be more powerful if they were unconditional friends without the debauchery?

I occasionally watch this YouTube critic. I'll admit she's kinda annoying, but I do think she makes some good points in her season 2 review of Arcane. Some of the things she hates about season 2 are things she wished they did more of in her season 1 review, so she does lack a lot of self-reflection. It's hypersexualization, full stop. They like to say they couldn't make them openly gay because of 'homophobia', when Netflix jumps at any bit to make characters that were not gay gay or bisexual (again, see Jaskier of the Witcher, who had a very deep friendship with Geralt in the games, books, and Polish TV show). That one council fight scene is homoerotic, though, even though there is no actual lip brushing (it does appear to be that way in the freeze frame, though) and the way Viktor leers over Jayce - that had to be approved by Linke himself, who said they were not romantically involved. It is absolutely bait. S1 was far more subtle in that you had to look or make up clues to see if they were romantically inclined, and it was far better for it.

The accusation that it is queerbaiting is also moot because shippers do it with EVERY male character, every time.

Regarding the Star Trek thing, that was a multiverse story in Below Decks; Garak, IIRC, is sexually ambiguous in the main time line. Nevertheless, it and the new film that came out that 'canonized' Kirk and Spock has been dubbed by fans as 'the year of yaoi', with JayVik making the list.

An IRL example of your example would be Alexander the Great, constantly portrayed as a gay/bisexual man for having an intense relationship with another man. People forget the 'bisexual' aspect and just go for the gay, when exclusive homosexuality is rare (around 1%, bisexual is more common).

Anyways, courtesy of tumblr, S2 did the opposite of S1 where the animation studio was approached with completed scripts. In this case, the scripts were incomplete and they decided to handwave away many conversations because they did not deem them important.

That's right: they let the animators write their scripts, instead of the other way around.

Perhaps there was a way to develop hextech on this timeline and hide it away, keep it between only himself and his partner. Perhaps there was a way to cure Viktor without the hex-core swallowing him and spitting him out as a world-ending puppet of the arcane.

But then the haunting prospects of failure crept into Jayce's mind.

'And if we failed?' His breath hitched as he thought. 'If Viktor somehow strayed down the same path? I couldn't kill him again. I couldn't do it. I won't do it.'

And so, with a searing weight of guilt burning at his throat, Jayce decided. He would not allow it. He would not enable even the slightest possibility of Viktor becoming a monster again. He would subject himself to watching his partner die, and whisper whatever nothings he could, for as many years as needed, until it was all over once again.

Swallowing the lump in his throat, Jayce spoke meek and hoarse:

“Then my mind is yours.”

The response elicited a scoff from Viktor.

“It is simple to process when your body is not in constant disagreement with you,” Viktor spoke into the palm of Jayce’s hand.

“Then my body is yours, too.”

“It is simple to offer yourself to me when your heart is full of such sudden… such blind, idiotic devotion.”

“Then my heart is yours.” Jayce gulped down the lump in his throat as he leaned down ever so slightly to press his lips to the crown of Viktor’s head, inhaling the dull scent of his unwashed, shaggy hair. “For as long as you need it.”

Viktor sighed into Jayce’s hand, unable to bring himself to pull away as the man wrapped his large figure around him. He felt warm. He felt secure.

“Instead of chasing after solutions to your problems… instead of trying to correct yourself to no end… use me.”

Viktor lifted his head and looked into Jayce’s amber eyes with a tinge of disbelief, but his guard was most certainly melting down.

“Use me instead. Use me to fix your problems instead of trying to correct yourself. You don’t have to give up science, you don’t have to stop wanting to know the inner workings of the world… just please don’t run away from yourself, from your body, from your heart, Viktor.”

Imagine telling a dying man he was wrong because he wanted to cure his illness. The absolute fucking audacity. He then has the gall to say, 'yeah you can use science to help but you can't use the thing that'll cure you, because that'll end the world.' As if all his choices will be the same and end the world the same way. The fucking insult. Imagine being this fucking tone deaf and saying that the pursuit of science is wrong because uhhh it's wrong and I don't like it? That you should let the one you love in this iteration fucking DIE because YOU ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO LET THEM RESEARCH A CURE?!

Some fans think JayVik will become a 'legendary ship' like Johnlock, Hannigram and Destiel. Johnlock is almost dead at this point, and Destiel has had ten years of growth to which it has stagnated. JayVik has had explosive growth, as has the Arcane fandom in general, but it remains to be seen if it'll hold as more criticism of S2 emerges. I think it'll be as big as Soap/Ghost, if not more, maybe at Geralt/Jaskier level, before tipping off entirely. Geralt and Jaskier used to be a huge ship; not it's barely active at all. That happened in under five years.

Charles/Erik is a ship from X-Men 2011 movies. It was a big ship; it's practically dead now.

Others think it was an intentional reference to the Hannigram/Will ship, which was canonized in the show.

Difference is, Hannigram was intended because it was in the script; Hugh Dancy was just cagey about it. Mads Mikkelsen was a bit more open about it. Unless the script for Arcane is leaked, this will remain ambiguous.

I doubt Ambessa knew Viktor existed, because she never mentioned him by name or alluded to him at all. In S2, when looking for scientists who can work with Hextech, she never mentions Viktor's name. They want to craft a storyline where Ambessa seduced Jayce with this random twink and turn him against Mel, or something. Again, this isn't the first time this particular scene has gone viral.

Again, do we even know Ambessa knew Viktor existed?

Arcane was meant to be used as a tool for people who watched it to get into League of Legends, but that failed very miserably. Basically, Machine Herald Viktor we all know and love got deleted and replaced by an Ozempic twink for no reason other than attempting to attract Arcane tourists to League which also failed as shown in the player charts I posted.
