It's easy to wrap the idea of men in their 20's calling a cartoon their waifu by knowing why: it's autism. Through it, they get a sort of attraction to a fictional character that they would have fantasies they want to enact with said character. Bronies fall under it the same way weebs fall under it.

It's true that ponies were pushed onto everything back in 2011, but I think it's quiet down by now. I personally think that ponies have become a very common part of internet culture, like anime and furries. I'm not putting down anyone making ridicule, but I don't see how an avatar can upset someone anymore.

They are a part of chan culture in that you got some boards mean't to contain them. Not to mention bronies managed to leave a mark that deserves to be ridiculed like that of furries and weebs.

Let's not forget plushiefuckers as well when considering individuals such as Jin.

What happens when a brony/the_donald regular/(probably more stuff I'm missing but is irrelevant to the topic at hand) suffers from a downright stunning lack of self-awareness brought on by their own paranoia. Not entirely sure if this is the most suitable thread for this post, but I couldn't think of anywhere else, and it's not something thread-worthy on its own.
