He apparently was somehow under the impression that his witnesses would be HIS witnesses and he could spring them on the court (if it ever went to trial) without them being deposed. He probably would have objected to them being cross-examined, too.

Russell apparently had no idea what the Discovery phase even was. Why did he think he needed to provide witness names in the first place?
It looks like he thought the names were just for informational purposes, and that the witnesses would only be utilized at trial to provide "gotcha" moments in favor of the Plaintiff. I think this is what he really believed.

Look, I know Russ is an idiot and all, but for someone so loud and proud about having his paralegal degree, how can he know so little about the basic litigation process? What did they teach him at Mormon law school, just how to file in alphabetical order?
He really does see the courts in the same way he saw teachers in school - someone to run to and tattle-tale, to make people be nice to him because he has a deformed face. If ever there was a cautionary tale about not coddling your kids, Russ the serial litigant and woman harasser is it.
I think we’re all just sitting here laughing our asses off, half disbelieving he’d be so fucking stupid, half wondering how much more stupid he can be. What a trip. What an absolute farcical trip.
