That is the situation as of 11:20 PM. I am sorry for the different numbers and reports. This is unfortunately commonplace for news floods such as this one.
I hope it remains that way and all severely injured who are currently lying in hospital with horrible pains make it through the night. What a horror, 4 days ahead of Christmas.

I guess you could turn off the feeds and just pay attention to the info post (1st reply in the thread) or Community Happenings; I'm keeping both up to date with useful info

Apparently the market was supposed to close tonight so he really did wait for the last chance and to get the most people possible.

That alleyway-like path between the stands was part of a fairytale-themed area meant for parents with younger kids

Not too out of the ordinary to cater to specific clientele

Its just before midnight and while I still hear a police helicopter hovering over the area, I hear some sirens still, but way fewer than 2 hours ago. The local mall and a tram are used to treat the lightly wounded, while all hospitals in Saxony-Anhalt are on high alert, with all able doctors in Magdeburg being called into the hospitals.

Remember to be sceptical of all social media posts. When I walked through the market to look for my family just after the attack, I saw around 20 people laying on the floor, all in pain but conscious. So I'm not quite sure how some people talk about up to 34 deaths - seems a bit overinflated and mostly presented by right wing telegram posts

It was held in the Alter Markt (old market square):

They apparently had blocked off all the roads to traffic, but the route on the left going North-South is trams, so the couldn't close it off without shutting down all the trams in Magdeburg. I guess they didn't anticipate someone would drive up the tracks and swing the corner :c

I think part of it is that reporters are unwilling to share actual definitive numbers since a lot of people are stuck in limbo and doctors arent sure if theyll make it through the night, stay safe out there though.

On his X profile, he showed a weapon. His motives are still unclear. What is clear: The migrant should have never been allowed to come & stay here (passed through safe countries).

Also, the case shows: Education & job are not a guarantor of integration or even assimilation. A stringent asylum & remigration policy could have prevented Magdeburg.
