Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Get fucked.
FF15 failed because it started life in 2013 as project Nova Crystalis and then as Project Verses 13 both of which were canceled and reworked into what would eventually become FF15.

There was basically no possible way for them to sell enough to offset a nine year dev cycle in which they started over several times.

16 failed mostly because it was incredibly boring and it honestly wasn't much of a game being about 80% cutscenes and not good ones.

>pretends 16 didn't get fucked over by PS5 exclusivity
>pretends BG3 is popular because muh turn-based
>pretends BG3's gameplay is the same as timer based Pokemon combat that was in FF

Only thing missing was pretending you're high IQ for pressing X in a menu.

I'm not praising BG3, if anything I dislike it. I am merely proving the original poster regarding FF's decline and how the SRPG genre has been in shambles for a long while.

Wat? No seriously what the fuck are you talking about?
I mean the games have had women and girls in compromising positions with unsavory men since day 1 and FE fans on the internet have always been weird about rape. It's why GhebFE exists. In FE6, people love to pretend like Clarine was raped by Narcian even though Clarine doesn't even remember who he is the next time they interact. Half of the discussion I see about Kaga games is about how epic and wacky it is that his games consistently have some girl being hypnotized and/or about to be taken advantage of in the first chapter, like Berwick Saga.

Some will say that's a byproduct of the series getting bigger and more available internationally, but that's naive. People were being horny losers on the internet in Japan in 1990 too. I only got exposed to Sengoku Rance as a kid because of people talking about it in Fire Emblem spaces. I don't even know what memes or animation you're talking about, and I don't want to as there's a good chance they're about a kid being raped in graphic detail, but it's a series that people still regularly bring up when talking about FE.

People also used to say The Big Twist in FE4 was an NTR thing until they watched it on youtube, saw the force ghost scene, and realized that's not actually what NTR means by any retarded Stretch Armstrong of the imagination.

I think it's the randomness of the setting and enemies. Serious Sam and those mobile ads are both so incoherent. Definitely agree with feeling off too. Games that are as polished as that usually have a sense of progression or a coherent setting.
I only played 3 BFE and yes, it feels like a unity asset swap. Doesn't help that the levels are entirely flat and the lighting looks like a default sun source setting, or that the enemies don't match the environment at all, we're in flatland egypt with headless guys running at your with cartoon cannonball bombs and cyber spiders.

source? not that I don't believe you, just for reference later. that shit is so latent sexist I'm laughing my ass off "well, she looked like a weak women".. it also showed they haven't played tomb raider at all or even watched the fucking movies.
I believe it was deleted and I can't find an original link to pull an archive of, but the quote was used more than once so it must've came from some interview, but for the life of me I can't find anything. Not hard to believe however...I'll let you know if I can find a link, or if someone else better at it finds it for me.

People laughed when I pointed this out in the GTA thread, but I feel like a similar thing has happened with the GTA 6 characters between the September 2022 leaks and the December 2023 trailer:

I suppose it wouldn't really hold for the fact that they made the male look different too. Oh well. It's not like GTA 6 is going to be good either way. Just an observation.

It is such an absurdity, and I'd have thought, very incoherent with the rest of their ideology, to suggest pretty women can't be strong. I guess 'sexist stereotypes' are acceptable as long as they are directed against effeminate women?
There's too many FFs, and they've ran out of ideas. They're just going to milk XIV until they die.
I always used to laugh at how there were so many Final Fantasies, but that's just because I am dumb.

I'm currently trying to get into Resident Evil and I just realized something: Resident Evil is stupid. It keeps jumping between Night of the Living Dead and one of those awful zombie parody movies you see on Netflix. Not that stupid is bad, Capcom has made a living out of goofy action games after all. But I think I actually prefer the grounded take that the Remakes are doing because the tone is all over the fucking place in the originals.

Attractive women exist for the male gaze, which is bad. Strong women hate men and aren't interested in being looked at. Strong women are ugly.
I know you're being sarcastic, but you really do an excellent job of highlighting how truly stupid the modern game devs are.
Lara Croft was every bit as tough as Indiana Jones and she was hot as fuck. The male gaze is a good thing, and catering to it is one of the biggest reasons that gaming has survived as an industry all these years.

Finances are tight for obvious "world is burning" reasons and I already got so many games on Steam that I want to throw a bone at GOG but it doesnt dawn on them that Steam almost always offers a better deal

The biggest reasons you'd use GOG is because they offer their games via DRM free installers, they have a lot of older titles that Steam does not anymore (if they ever did)...and they have a lot of smutty games that Steam doesn't. They're not as good as Steam, but I think GOG's niche is secured.

You actually own the game when you buy on GOG.
