Idk if Civvie11 full on detailed Cancer Mouse was meant to be that but it does make sense when you consider he usually appears when something controversial, especially cultural and political, appears in a game, usually related to outdated perspectives. Doesnt help that he is set up as the toxic character no one likes (get it? Conservatives are toxic)

An example was the Corkscrew episode where the word faggot is thrown around and obviously Cancer Mouse had to appear and try to explain it was a product of its time (also, you know, it was made by Russians) while Civvie tries to shut him up.

There are other examples but I think you can look those up yourself. The point is that he IS meant to be a right wing parody, thus he is "toxic".

Edit: To make it any more obvious is if he started to call him "Synth Mouse" now. GET IT?! ITS SYNTHETIC MAN! WHO WE ARE VERY SURE CIVVIE11 DOESNT LIKE.

TL;DR: Bad management (he only mentions Embracer, no mention of Fred, or any of the badly made games they made before Embracer bought them), and making excuses for the gameplay (playing like a crackhead to find the fun).

Also since we are talking about Civvie's politics, i also found this comment on the same thread, confirming Civvie being a leftie, friends with hsexpestguy, yet still has time to complain about Civvie liking the Postal series despite being a good leftie™.

A lot of this reads like "Civvie didn't like my game (Phantom Fury) so he MUST be a right-wing Neo Nazi despite being rather transparently leftist".

He (or "cancer mouse") also conveniently ignored that the original retail version of Postal 2 (to my memory) had a game called "Fag Hunter" in the arcade. And it was also playable in the A Week in Paradise mod.
It has since been removed from the current release however I do distinctly recall seeing a partially burried Fag Hunter machine in Paradise Lost expansion's Taliban cave.

Correct, there was a controversy surrounding that machine, which is directly related to the new tranny hires that RWS has. Now, Postal is all about "safe-edgy" humor, which includes Civvie himself being in the game as of Postal 4. Don't you just love being able to piss in the mouths of your favorite e-celebs while your character spouts outdated internet lingo? That's what Postal is all about!

He talked about it on some podcast that had something like 179 views. Notice how Cancer Mouse isn't hostile, angry or have any malice in him. Instead he is cheerful and very friendly. He just wants to help Civvie by telling him about what he read in the news(facebook boomer groups) which, in the context of the 'show', is very embarrassing for Civvie because people are watching.
iirc there was also a mention of the success of Cancer Mouse and how that makes him use the character more sparingly so the joke won't wear out its welcome.

Okay finally finished the video over the Christmas break. Felt oddly aggravated for an inexplicable reason, as if HL2 went and kicked his dog and pissed in his corn flakes or something. Nothing in the video is anything I haven't already read contrarian /v/irgins posting over and over and over. The game is 20 years old, things have come a long way since then (some better most worse) but my take is that he's being a nigger and looking to harvest hate-clicks by harping on the most obvious things as well as maybe just being mad that he had to make a video in the first place.

Like others are saying, he could easily go back and apply the same rubric and level of criticism to any other beloved game and get just as much hate but this feels like contrived gaming youtuber iconoclasm.

Also, anyone pretending Harry being there at the start is some sort of meta-gag and isn't actually the same as him circlejerking the upper management New Blood fags and other eCliques is out of their fucking mind. Whole video comes across as various fuck yous and damning with faint praise.

Kind of a punch in the face towards his fans that requested a HL2 video for years. When he finally gets to do it, he acts oddly very passive aggressive with it.

Edit: What adds to this surprise is the fact Civvie never really demonstrated these feelings for HL2 in any other video. He always seemed to only have good things to say.

I get it, HL2 represents a before and after, showing FPS would never return to what they were in terms of shooting shit and thats it (outside of retro indies that is) but Civvie did come off as oddly spiteful, almost as if he blames it for the fact that the boomer shooter style of old died for almost 2 decades.

I usually hate people that jerk off HL2 and act like HL1 hollow and just "blam blam blam" but I think its disrespectful to act like HL2 also doesnt have its merits to the series and industry as a whole. I love both games for different reasons and they compliment each other amazingly so I cant stand when one just keep showing blatant favortism while given bad reasons while it.

Well he dropped the ball on HL2 video. I don't know anyone singing it. It should be an easy video to make people happy and educate them.

As @The handsome tard said, it really is like the before after game. I played it new loved it, at the time I never thought this could be topped OR matched in style. I stopped gaming years ago so to see what influence it had some of the neat programming things looking back at bugs etc would be great.

If you made a video "why the corvette is a big deal" you'd have non car people having a hoot with it's story, Ford guys loving and the vette fans all kissing your toes. Shit like this can really fuck you up long term if not for good as a youtuber.

With the bad taste of something so many wanted next time you see their vids pop up, you'll go oh yeah.. it wasn't just a I didn't like the video happens to all YTers its like he fucked up bad and I'll watch someone else.

I skimmed some of the video and he seems mostly correct about HL2's flaws (too much focus on gimmicks that you see exactly twice, too forgiving to make sure you're able to see the next gimmick, etc.) though I don't remember him being that critical with the other super flawed games he plays. Maybe he's right but with the wrong agenda but I really don't want to watch the whole thing, my heart couldn't take the bomberfag jumpscare.

With this approach you can argue that Doom 4, where the protagonist fights armies of demons and literally rips them to pieces is not a power fantasy either.

It's harder than Half Life 2.

The actual issue is that while most action games are power fantasies, the good ones have mechanics you can get good at instead of letting you win with no effort like several multiple of HL2 do.

edit: civvie might have said "power fantasy" in the vid and I don't care about his definition.
