Always a wonder how every time stats are showing Americans dumpstering or right near the total of every scientific field and having 2x the STEM graduates as we do job openings that they get totally ignored and people just post dumb shit like this.
We have the workers they don't get the jobs. Who would you rather hire Tom who wants fair pay and doesn't want to do 80 hours on salary or achmed and mansoor who will combined work for less then Tom and live the job even if their work quality is way worse the will work all day and can't go to another company cause you have them under H1B control? Realistically DOGE was never going to amount to anything. They'd slice some easy low-hanging fruit stuff that the Congress is too chickenshit to try to defund like Medicare and Medicaid and SNAP, but besides that they were never going to fire Federal employees, never going to do much of anything really. The whole thing was a vehicle for Elon and Vivek to get screentime and probably for Elon to hypertarget NASA.

I'm not aware of previouse forum interacts between you two, so I may be missing context.
In rural communities children often do chores or farm labor. One of the reason kids have off of school in the summer was to help on the farm. It was much more common in the past. Child labor laws have curtailed it quite a bit. Nowadays it is basically restricted to close family (if even that).
Children (including highschool students) could probably gain valuable skills from doing seasonal farm labor. If it was done correctly it would benefit everyone. My mental pattern thinks of boy scouts, mentorship, internship, summer camp, and community building. It also gives the opportunity for young people to experience things they wouldn't ordinarily do and to get outside and experience nature.
We might benefit from more people knowing where food comes from. And, knowing what a hard days work feels like. Knowing the limits of their body. Teamwork.
But, given our current society I don't think Congress passing some laws and Trump saying a few nice things would get those results. Maybe if RFK Jr was heavily involved and 4H was completely overhauled. Liberals would have to stop hating "rednecks" and conservatives would probably have to be willing to piss off Monsanto and John Deer.

I am asking how lowering the minimum working age is going to help grown American workers and not just create more competition which will lead to wage stifling. If they really want children to learn how their food is made and processed they can schedule a field trip to a nearby farm and show them. You don't need to train kids on how to pick fruits from a field.

I think that back in the 1990s when H1Bs first came into being a thing it made some sense. There were a lot of talented people from eastern Europe that were unemployed after the Eastern Block fell. Japan and the rest of eastern Asia were still upward trending societies with new great people coming about everyday there inspite of the economic crash there then. The middle east even still had few good talented people you'd want to employ back then. But a lot has changed and the current global demographic change since the 90s means we would no longer will ever get those kind of people ever again.
The real problem isn't just that the H1Bs are replacing highly desired middle class jobs but it is also importing an another hostile pro-globalist ruling class that hates the people of this country. Who absolutely have the power to destroy this country. Look at how the Indians got up the ranks in Silicon Valley and how they see the rest of us.

I like your optimism, not like we can do much but watch and laugh at this point. Best outcome would be Musk actually coming out the otherside with a new understanding of what it actually means to be American, but I'm afraid that's going to be pretty unlikely. I can still hope for it.
