"Ha ha, idiots! I just met a millionaire on Facebook who is going to sell me a gold mine that is also filled with super rare gemstones. Then I'm going to build an underground city with all the money I'm going to make! I just need to send him the down payment and he'll tell me where it is."
My absolute favourite is how defensive he gets whenever it's pointed out that there's things he's either willfully ignoring, or just plain not knowing (despite being exactly the kind of thing that literally anyone who knows a thing or two about haggling should know). The infamous oil scam of 2022 being a perfect example. Remember how defensive he got when it was pointed out that you shouldn't be putting money up for someone you don't even know and haven't met face to face?

Tom's going to get rich this time. His "partner" is crazy! Selling $10,000 museum quality gemstones for only $150 a piece!? There's no way this could be ANOTHER scam!

Maybe I'm just being a negative Nancy. Let's Google the place...

Not a scam, just a pricing misunderstanding.
I'm inclined to belief Mario on that one. They've been around for a very long time and they sell to multiple different markets.

That said, Mario isn't and never has been Tom's "partner". Tom is just hoping to get a commission on sales made to customers he directs to Mario. He has operated out of Mario's tent in the past and iirc, that ended badly.

His reference to "museum quality" relates to Mickey Granillo's stones and he hasn't yet given Tom a price for the high quality stuff. Tom is talking about $50-$150/lb (per pound, not per piece) for something different. In true flim-flam man fashion, he says that museum quality with a certain provenance can fetch thousands (true) but doesn't explicitly say that such pieces are what will be for sale (without such provenance they're worth fuck all) and he doesn't even know the miner's qualifications or whether the stones have been certified.

"Engineer" is rapidly becoming the most abused term of the decade, but I can see no evidence that Mickey describes himself that way.

This fucking fool is going to lose all his remaining money buying driveway gravel from yet another scammer, isn't he?

I'm sure people will be lining up around the motel to buy mining tailings from a vacant eyed crossdressing hobo.
Tommy you don't have the kind of "rocks" the Tucson Motel 6 clientele are looking to buy.
Tommy got kicked out of Motel 6 last time. He's going to be hanging around the fringes of the shows trying to get customers, 'cos ain't nobody going to just be wandering past his apartment looking for stones.

I can't see anything to suggest that Mickey is a scammer. Unlike Tom, he's a member of the Tucson lapidary group. Tom has no doubt sold himself as some kind of marketing genius (he markets his own inventory so well that he's living in a hovel and dependent on food stamps).

Interestingly, Tom isn't on Mickey's FB friends list.

Is it a day ending in "Y"?

Because yep, that's a certainty at this point. The shit from his pants somehow makes its way to his brain.

He wants his get-rich-quick schemes to be true so badly that he’d rather get ripped off than admit he’s not getting rich. There’s a term for someone who does the same thing over and over again, expecting different results: pants-shitting pedo dog rapist.

Tom broke down his inheritance from 2 years ago and it added up to around 300k. Its now sitting around 22k
I thought he invested it in precious metals and bananas or some shit and was making $1000 a day. He said so when bragging how smart and fiscally responsible he is.
