So many medical centers, hospitals, and insurance companies use third party companies for medical records and keeping track of patients (for claims and such). As you can imagine, 90% of the callers we get at work for these groups are Indian (or sound like it). They're very frustrating to deal with not because they're mean or incompetent, but because they're oftentimes so damn hard to understand on the phone. Of course not all of them are like this and sometimes the callers are American, but everyone in the office does a unspoken eye roll whenever we see a caller I.D. from one of these groups.
I try not to get mad at them because they are, at the end of the day, just doing their job and are at least trying to learn English, but it's so exhausting trying to communicate with them. I imagine this feeling is mutual (when the American still can't understand what you said after the fourth repeat). It's even worse if the phone happens to have a poor connection.
