In the middle of part 2 he says he recently asked his dad for money because his YT income took a huge hit even though his views and subs are up (all creators I know of say their CPM is way down, but he seems to take this VERY personally) and how much it hurt his pride.
That's interesting, is he referring to his views being up now or is he talking about a previous time? Because I compiled some very solid evidence that his channel is preforming much worse now and experiencing significant decline.
Basically, I used some data autism to scrape his channel for statistics, and I managed to obtain a list of all his videos, their view counts, and the dates published. From there I sorted out all the abnormal content (YouTube shorts, podcasts, livestreams) to be as charitable as possible since these had abnormally low view counts due to not being the normal video format, then grouped the data by year and by month. From there I was able to obtain the below graphs which measure his channel's total views by year, by month, and the average views per video during each month.
The graphs are a bit hard to read, but I'll outline a few significant trends I observed.
1) His yearly total views dropped ~55% from 2022 to 2024 (though increased 40% from 2018 )
2) Although his total views in 2024 increased compared to 2018, his average views per video in 2024 were only ~20% higher than they were in 2018 (and ~45% lower than in 2022)
3) His channel peaked around 2020-2022 and has been slowly and significantly declining in both absolute views and average views per video over the last 2 years
I'm not sure how finances are calculated for YouTube, but someone more knowledgeable than me about that might be able to correlate Rudyard's statements about the money he made to a specific time on the graph and back-calculate a general amount of money he made for the views in that period, then extrapolate that to his current views for a rough estimate. If it's true that his CPM has declined, then he's experienced a two-fold decline of losing both total views and money-per-view.
It's also interesting to note Rudyard's story of his channel's success since he claims that it occurred due to him realizing college wasn't for him and 'grinding' on his channel, but the data clearly shows that it was significantly influenced by luck. During 2020 is when views across every channel increased due to covid lockdowns and remote work, and this time corresponds exactly to when his channel blew up in popularity. On a year-to-year trend, his channel actually was in decline from 2018-2019 before covid happened, and if you look more specifically on the month-to-month trend, his channel's huge positive trend started in exactly March of 2020, the exact time lockdowns started occurring.
