It’s possible Trump made that H1B statement to please Vivek/Elon types and not have another public chimpout till he deals with it after the inauguration.

He's not the one to backstab, not the people nor the people he work with. He spent his first four years as president building a wall to protect American industry, he is definitely going to review if the H1B program has been abused. It's clear that cancelling the program in it's entirety will not happen, but he is likely going to review if the program has been abused and make corrections. One of the best courses of action would be cancelling any government subsidies (if any), and declaring that underpaying H1B employees compared to their American workers is unfair discrimination. Most of the worst of jeets will take advantage of suing their employers for underpaying them, and a cottage industry will pop up around that as companies try to remove that growing liability without being sued for unlawful dismissal. With H1B employees not being an easy way to save money, companies will end up hiring better skilled labour such as Americans into roles. This scenario satisfies all claims from Trump, Musk, and other parties. Ideally companies also do the math and realise that letting jeets hire their friends and family for roles they are unqualified for severely hurts the business. As it becomes more okay to acknowledge cultural differences, the more companies will be willing to recognise that problem.

I do think that with the recent acknowledgement of jeet nepotism over the past year or so we will see less successful examples of them doing it, or at least serious backlash when it happens. As for the GOP, all signs indicate that the purges are ongoing. The ratio of MAGA to Backstabbers is skewing ever higher in MAGAs favour. We now have 4 more years, with MAGA in control for those four, to really lay into them. No need to defend or work against an empowered opposition. THe Midterms are shaping up to be a bloodbath for the RINOs.

In short, its a whole lot of good news with honestly not a lot of bad.
