I could see this being just a thing that happened since someone retarded enough to buy a cybertruck could also easily be retarded enough to do something like stuff a bunch of fireworks in the trunk and not account for static electricity or the fact they're putting highly combustible material very close to conductive metal. All it would take is one firework sparking off and suddenly you have a combustion that blows the trunk and car wide open and the remaining fireworks start spilling out into the street. The battery itself igniting would just be a cherry on top of the ordeal since that's just embarrassing for Elon.

Might not be. Like I said (I edited my post as you replied) lithium contamination can make a fire red, and copper contamination make it blue-green. Once the battery exploded it sent pieces all over, and said pieces had lithium to keep burning and dragged other materials along which could account for the sparks.

However, if it was fireworks I will take the L. In that case I am more interested in if it was accidental or deliberate.

So my hot take on H1B, cap it at whatever you want (no, you are almost certainly not going to be able to swing it being 0 right now), have it go to the companies willing to pay the highest salary for it instead of a lottery, and add a non-trivial tax (10-15%) on top of typical payroll tax.

If a company is willing to pay 15% on top of typical payroll tax and pay someone $250k, they are much more likely to be actually hurting at trying to hire someone vs winning the h1b lottery and paying someone $30k.

I have a better idea, all pay for H1b salaries must come out of the CEOs and boardmembers paycheck also any company that hires H1b is banned from lobbying or taking any tax breaks. Obviously this won't be a problem because the super skilled 80 hour a week workers will make up for the lost tax breaks.

The H1-B bullshit is taking advantage of very real gaps in American job needs to let -everyone- through. It is perfectly congruous to believe that the spirit of what H1-B is meant to solve should be maintained while also drastically limiting the flood of 'skilled' workers that are replacing American job opportunities.
