"Horror-comedy", which will feature wild swings between twee queerness and gore porn. If there isn't heavy handed socialist commentary, the villain is still going to be the most 'privileged' person in the cast. It can be 'lovecraftian', Fallen London (browser game) definitely is, but Nightvale (podcast) and Awful Hospital (webcomic) are more like David Lynch, and Purrfect Apawcalypse (visual novel) or Sparklecare Hospital (webcomic) are more like... normal horror if it weren't for the ironic artstyle. They could've made it steampunk.
...actually, what is the 2024 equivalent of Steampunk? Some poorly cribbed setting that's a dead giveaway for the author being a smarmy hipster cunt.
I'd say "Lovecraft" but poorly cribbing from him used to go hand-in-hand with Steampunk. Maybe "Witches"? Every loser's trying to jump on that train now.
Just more evidence that JDR was a mastermind from long before his time.
I agree completely. Sorry, I probably came off as dismissive.Sometimes this thread is Bad Webcomics and sometimes it feels like Webcomics General [...]
Is that Brandon Wurtz/partydogge by any chance? It looks like a polished image by him but they all look so fucking similar it's hard to tell the difference.![]()
The content - as you can guess from this single image - was very gay, very trans, and full of drugs. Broken home stuff basically. But the artist did what only a handful of webcomics ever took advantage of: the fact that 1. the screen can scroll in all directions. and 2. limited animation can be incorporated.
That's the guy, definitely. Wurtz | Partydog fired my sleeping neuron. Is that Brandon Wurtz/partydogge by any chance? It looks like a polished image by him but they all look so fucking similar it's hard to tell the difference.
I don't think I could tell you the amount of "troon 'girl' who smoke and alt/scene". It's these warped - oddly specific - stereotypes that pop up. Sometimes they're fat too.
I've always wondered: Is is just natural shared interests (like gaming and anime) or do these tropes propagate between them?
some shining specimens of humanity in the comments hereOn this episode of Schizobunny: Harper cuntinues to treat the people around her like trash.

Even if she's doing this because the concert is linked to Percy's break, there has to be a better way to go about it than this. Neither Kai nor the mom call her out on it. The dad may push back later, but considering how these comics work, it either won't be anything substantial, or he'll be portrayed as the antagonist.
There should be a side comic where the mom takes Kai to the play instead. On this episode of Schizobunny: Harper cuntinues to treat the people around her like trash.

I'd unironically read a side comic about Kai without the schizo insanity, he seems like a pretty sweet guy and the comic's at its best when Piper's weird head warren isn't in the focus. There should be a side comic where the mom takes Kai to the play instead.![]()
I knew it.>being this much of a dick is supposedly not intentional

It's all pretty much as I remember it. Ever varying quality, a metric tonne of mixed media, but the same themes for over a decade...

So the bunny's problem is having few too many hobbies and parents being actively involved with their child's life? What abusive environment!I knew it.
>no no no, it's totally ok for rape bunny to touch and call Kia boy toy but hate her mother because blah blah blah trauma or something.
Really going back and rereading the intro for this comic, it gave me the same feeling as that speech in American Psycho. Two crazy people trying to justify their crazy only one is covered in happy fluffy animal rainbow vomit. I just hate when people try to make mental illness all sunshine and unicorn farts, or worse a super power.

I’m assuming it’s supposed to imply that the parents signed Percy up for all that stuff without his consent because they want to push him to be the best and a gifted student. Like parents who try to enjoy success vicariously through their children and tout them like trophies. But if that’s the case, I think it was conveyed pretty poorly. So the bunny's problem is having few too many hobbies and parents being actively involved with their child's life? What abusive environment!
I'm going to guess that the writer is going to get bush back and in reaction going to portray the parents as absolutely assholes that makes no sense rather than admitting that normal teen angst issues aren't that bad and something the teen needs just grow up from.
If this comic was made in 2011 or something it probably would have had that premise, but it was made in the current year of rampant self-diagnosis caused by the cutesy-fication of mental illness and pop-psychology, so it's only natural its about how being mentally ill gives you magical head ghosts. The sad thing about schizobunny is that if the story had come out before the age of Tumblr and self-diagnosed mental illness there might actually be a good story here. Or the comic could have sacrificed its grounded nature for more supernatural elements. It's the fact that Percy's personalities come of as attention-seeking delusions that's the problem.
If these were actual separate "spirits" sharing a body that had to work together to keep up a façade once the main one dies, I think there could be some good plot threads there. It's only the lack of plausibility that's the problem IMO.
Plural, Otherkin, Soulbounded, ect have been around since the early internet, maybe longer if we count weird hippy cults. I remember it being a thing on Tumblr back then. I get the feeling this would still be about MPD bunny if it had been made in the 2010s.If this comic was made in 2011 or something it probably would have had that premise, but it was made in the current year of rampant self-diagnosis caused by the cutesy-fication of mental illness and pop-psychology, so it's only natural its about how being mentally ill gives you magical head ghosts.
Here's my prediction for how this type of story will go: Percy's father "abused" him for refusing to let him play with dolls or wear his mom's dresses as a kid, either something homosexual or related to grades, and it was so t-t-traumatic that it caused him to split. The mom has always been more supportive, but because she didn't do anything to stop his dad's "abuse", Harper now hates her and it's totally valid. Kai is later revealed to have a worse childhood than Percy, but somehow the author will attempt to convince everyone that he's the antagonist. So the bunny's problem is having few too many hobbies and parents being actively involved with their child's life? What abusive environment!
