Interesting, I'm unfamiliar with the Josephson but the SM7B works just great if you fine tune it properly, there's a reason everyone uses it.

The main issue I see with this mic is people try to use it from a foot or more away, you really need to be up close and personal to get the best out of it. Also you need to turn up the higher frequencies in your equalization to bring out more color in your voice, or else it's going to sound pretty flat. That problem is emphasized even more if your voice isn't very deep, the SM7B loves bass. You can do all these without post processing.

Sam doesn't hate on these things for good reasons. He sees five fat redditors using the sm7b and assumes it's on par with a Logitech snowball mic. No other critical reasoning goes into it and he just wants to outspend the problem cause he has taste.

He does this with a lot of things, one that comes to mind is Breaking Bad. Idgaf about Breaking Bad but his reasoning for hating the show was he saw some Indian sigma edit of Walter White blowing up a car. Because of that he assumes the show is a power fantasy for Indians and redditors.

Basically just contrarianism I suppose but he does it with a lot of things in really stupid ways.

sam's right about breaking bad though. you can clearly see that midway through the show's run vince gilligan went out of his way to add extra fan service shit for frat boy water cooler talk, added early 2000s tarintino ripoff shit like the mute cholo brothers, and there even was some sort fellating "lets talk aobut how epic win the show we just saw was" post airing horse shit

sam has always said that time is more important that money to him, so if he can buy his way out of a problem rather than tinker endlessly, he will. just because you don't have the means to do that doesn't mean it's the wrong way to look at it.

My point wasn't whether or not he was right about breaking bad, it was that he came to that conclusion because he saw an Indian sigma YouTube short. Just because an Indian smears his shit covered hands all over something doesn't mean it was always covered in shit. I don't want to debate breaking bad, it was just one example that I thought of.

As other audio engineer guys have said, buying a nicer microphone doesn't solve his problem, the solution is to spend an hour tinkering, not buying a more sensitive microphone. The point is that he's incorrectly blaming the hardware cause he saw Indian people using it, i.e. contrarianism.
 
Are you retarded? he didn't come to that conclusion because of that. During a stream or pgl breaking bad came up and he asked chris lynch to pull up one of those clips to reinforce the point about 70 iq retards thinking walter white explosions and cringe badazz lines were cool. vince gilligan purposely wrote shit that way to be quotable for youtube videos and that's why it's gay and not kino

This clip is literally what I was referencing. He says he watched half an episode and then watched YouTube shorts. I don't want to fucking debate whether or not breaking bad is a good show ffs.

You can absolutely judge something and have an opinion on it based on clips idiots make specifically to show how badazz something is without devoting hundreds of hours to it. It's how movie trailers work.

Tried to find Sam's Fallout 1 stream and could only find one video (an hour or so long). Are these streams behind a pay wall somewhere? I'd love to watch these.
