I agree with the overall previously stated sentiment, but disagree that this should be elevated to a hate crime. Doing such only validates the existence of trans-identity as an objective, valid, immutable existence. It's no more a real identity than "people who wear hats" or "those who declare themselves Martians."
Any troon who is killed for no reason beyond existing as a "trans-identified person" is being killed on their basis of being male, which is already a federally protected class. Everything fueling that so-called "transphobia" is rooted in their maleness, whether it be 'defying gender norms' or whatever. It's ridiculous that these hate crime laws are applied to those who outright reject the religion to begin with,
In fact, that was something I tried telling the Wiki losers on that page. The only people who can credibly offer a motive for these crimes are the perpetrators themselves, but I'd concede that detectives or judges rulings would be enough for Wiki entry. Yet so many of their examples had quotes from both the convicted and the suits affirming homophobia as the motive, victims who never identified as trans themselves (or referred to themselves as men throughout their life), etc. Just another example of them colonizing gay issues for their own causes.
Anyway, we need to remove gender altogether from all legislative writing ASAP, not validate it as something on par with sex. How we decided to allow people the ability to self-declare their own protected status is beyond me. Meanwhile, everyone collectively shat on Rachel Dolezal, a strong, independent, beautiful black woman.
