"Doxing" in 2025

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Dachsing, as in Dachshund.

Everyone loves a wiener dog:

"Phonebooking" is good in principle, because it highlights that it's talking about something mundane and easily accessable.

But "phonebooking" is also bad from an opticscuck angle, because it's main use in the past was describing cops using phonebooks to beat a confession out of a suspect, because it won't leave a bruise.

"Whitepaging" is a better alternative to "phonebooking", because it doesn't have that past usage.

I will NOT respect the new pronouns.
Jokes aside, not only is enforcing new terms top-down like trying to push water uphill (unless automatically replaced by some meme word filter) it's also counterintuitive.
I get that there are legal issues due to ambiguity in definition, but coming up with some "sekrit club" terminology just feeds the terrible PR that the nazi kiwifarmers are knowingly trying to obfuscate their criminal behavior, we saw that same shit with Sanctioned Suicide and the dozens of incelsphere forums and their esoteric lingo.

Maybe we could parlay the use of new doxing terms into getting some sticker privileges back.
I swear, I get off a flight and shit just turns into a completely different website.
What changed about stickers? (You mean Josh disabling sticker notifications? That was like a year ago)

Phonebooking or unmasking makes the most sense, but part of me wants it to just catch on as being a part of journalism.

Maybe then Journalists will finally get the hate and vitriol they deserve. If journalists had existed in biblical times they would have been listed alongside tax collectors as examples of the foulest, disgusting evil human souls who are still somehow miraculous covered by the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.

Personally, I've been slowly deprecating the use of "doxing" in favor of "doxxxmaxxing" and other similarly absurd terminology. I think if you seriously care about avoiding heat from outlanders the best way to do so is to simply appear ridiculous.

I never once referenced what the lolcow thinks and don't particularly give many shits what's going on in their addled brains.
I never said you did, my point is the reason Null has to worry about stuff like this is because of what lolcows think and do. It doesn't matter what the legal definition of doxing is if nobody cares enough to make a stink about it.

Liz Dong Gone is the perfect example, because his entire crusade is motivated by him being butthurt over the Trans Lifeline scam being exposed and then his little 'consent accident' tweet. Documenting either of those things isn't anything close to illegal but because it makes him Big Mad he has dedicated his worthless life to ruining Josh and the Farms.

I think I’m going to go with ‘pin’, as in, Personal Information

I think it should be able to be swapped with dox pretty 1-to-1 in usage i.e ‘Pinned’ and ‘Pinning’, and also implies you’re pinning things down on like a schizophrenic mind map which is funny to meIMG_1521.jpeg

Did anybody at the time ever really think Shadman had the purest and most innocent of intentions when he did that?

You earned the Dumb negrate by virtue of examples of things created rather than referenced, questionably juxtaposed or not. Retrieving, transferring, and/or copying readily available information without any consideration of use case is a basic freedom. Legislating against such carries insurmountable precedent. The Feds aren't ready to truly punish data breaches and illegal information selling, and this is actual sensitive information that is predisposed to identity theft, because these networks supply them with much of the information they collect in the first place. But even this is irrelevant as individual's legal names and addresses aren't (yet) considered sensitive information, but maybe further into the internet era, it will be.
