Skibidi toilet and hawk tuah only got big because everyone's minds were buck broken by the lockdowns

Nonsense. I'm old enough to remember T-shirts that said "Did I do that?" (with a picture of Steve Urkel) or "Show me the money!"

Had nothing to do with lockdowns. Sometimes people just pick up dumb things and run with them.
Or this classic:

i knew hawk tuah was a sex thing but i thought it was a boomer only joke

I'd say people's extreme negative reaction to them is the significant factor in propelling them. Maybe it's just where I browse but I only started hearing them when people where freaking out about them being the absolute worst thing ever. It's the same for the new zoomer slang like rizz and x tax where I'm sure kids use it but at least 95% of shit i see is just memes making fun of it and proformative overreactions. At least with stuff like dab, yolo or swag I saw it used a good bit before the ironic use took off but again that could be just a case of me not being near the intended demographic.

There's always been dumb catchphrases and fads that get big for some reason.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Skibidi Toilet. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also G man's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterization - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Skibidi Toilet truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in the Skibidi toilet's existencial catchphrase "Skibidi dop dop dop yes yes," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dafuqboom's genius unfolds itself on their Ipad screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Skibidi Toilet tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

I try to recall a widely popular song from last 10 years that is better than the Skibidi toilet song, and I can't think of any. It's not like the skibidi song was that good, but that the mainstream music of these days sucks ass that bad. All what the kids have served to them by media (the music everyone can know), are watered down hits from 90's and boring shit.
That, and the toilet has a certain charm of a thing that inevitably has to piss off adults so it appeals to kids' rebellious side.
I made it to the episode 30, then both the toilets and cameras felt to me too overpowered and there was too much going on all over the place.
