Try an Evora… I loved my S
You're an asshole and might have cost me 40k more. God damnit, it's THAT good. I did wind up getting in one. It's fucking great.

Mrs also is suggesting a viper. I'm never going to end up getting anything because I keep falling into love with something else, mrs wants X or doesn't care what I get etc... I will say jokes aside, the Evora was just wonderful. I think I could do one in yellow even.

Really next step is going to be boost for the sexus and speakers in it. Second part easy and not too pricey neither of us are picky just an improvement.

My dad's WRX is starting to drink a little coolant and on those motors means head gasket... so it's an 09, any cheap head ideas? like swapping in stock STI (or even base maybe? or old JDM 2l?) I figure mild P&P if that's needed since why the fuck not. Then again my dad's an old engineer so he probably will just feed it walmart brand anti freeze for years and laugh as his paid off car is problem free lol.

There you go. Exotic looks (mine was in Red), a just magical drive (like, it's both firm and soft at the same time...I don't undertsand how you can have such outstanding cornering, but then when you see a bump or shitty road, it just glides over it without backbreaking ouchness), and an addictive supercharger whine.
Treat yourself, it's Xmas :)

I gave you a drink rating because you earned one. God damn she's so nice. How did you let one go? But I'm a cheap fuck so that beer I bought you... if you can pick your own tab up lol jk.

Honestly, I've been blessed to be in many nice cars and exotics. I was so set on an elise because I'm into simple but damn dude....only thing I'm scared of, dealer said, have you looked at an Emira? They have one in yellow.. it's well past what I should spend but.. I could. At that price point I'd honestly want a Ferrari 456.

Don't touch the Emira. Dealers can't shift them, and they made too many. It's just an Evora Mk 3 but with a shitter drive, and they are no way near to the bottom of their depreciation curve. I don't think I've ever lost money on a car yet due to buying smart.
I let the Lotus go because I wanted an Aston, and now I'm on my second one having been daily driving it for a year now. She will go in Spring I think, and then I'll be looking for a 4C again maybe.

Thanks for warning, no wonder he pushed that.
I'm a cheap fuck and when we let the Jag go I got 50k, I got my lift, put some money in wifes jag so I tried to keep 30k as budget.. Elise fell into that. but fuck that Evora... it's so good. I've been in 4c wonderful.

If these our problems, we're doing well. Or I could save a few bucks and paint my wifes sexus lol.

The LC500 (the proper one not the faggy hybrid) is on my buy list too.

Where is your line in the sand between "shitty old car" and "vintage collectable"? Seems to be about 40 years contingent on the vehicles condition/rarity.

I don't get it.

Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer modeling by a Ferrari 250 GT, Maserati 3500, and an Triumph Italia Coupe to promote Italian automobiles. Stunning.

Italy in the late 50s/early 60s:

I jest.

With these 3 models you go from V12 to I6 to I4 and from millions to many hundreds of thousands to a couple hundred thousand dollars.

The consensus is definitely contingent on the rarity but also the popularity. BMW E9 coupes are far more rare and far nicer than early 70s Mustangs, but they're pretty close to parity value wise. A Mustang II is rare compared to an early '70s Mustang, and it's comparatively worthless. And that's just talking value. For me my line is based on the car itself, but I don't know if I'll ever consider most ordinary 90s or post 2000s of interest even 30 years from now. A trabant is a shitty old car but it's cool, a chevette or pinto is just a shitty old car. I paid a decent sum for a very nice survivor 240Z roller (PO was going to swap it but never did) but I wouldn't want a mustang of the era.

"cars today all look the same"
That's the one thing I don't get when I see Instagram comments like this on botposts showcasing newer and older models together. But you see, it's only bad with those egg shaped SUVs being sold today as compared to any car maker in a certain decade with the design trends they use at the time.

To me, it's very much an "old good; new bad" type of statement. Surface level I'll say, even if I generally agree that older cars are way cooler than most new ones.

As the above post stated, popularity, rarity, and the condition of the car decides the value. To use a Honda for an example, an Integra Type R is an enthusiast's model where low mile unmodified examples sell for a lot and the higher mileage ones still retain the value because of the trim. Whereas the GS-R and lower end models vary with the low mile examples selling for more than its original MSRP and the high miles go into the four digits.

But then you have examples like this GS-R with 73k on the odometer was sold for the same price range as the MSRP when it was brand new. Even with those LS and GS trims, it's a shitty old car that is cool looking, still somewhat practical, and so it will have an audience for those who want it. As opposed to a Corolla from the same era where it's simply an unfun type of old car with a non-existent audience actively looking for one.

It's not year but upkeep. I'm very open minded with cars a MINT 1997 chevy caviler, was junk new but see a mint one today I'm hype. A beat to fuck 97 Rolls is gay and probably some no name rappers signing bonus thats rusting out in his sec 8 housing.

My civic is in great shape, my Lexus.. eh, my firebird needs paint, my triumph (years in order 1991, 1993, 1987, 1961) so it's what you feel. No real "hard" rule imho some people will always look down on a say, old accord because it was dull new.

Hmm, good question. Quality, rarity and condition. Or, for me, if an Old Hollywood actress drove it, chances are it's a classic.

Example: any car that Joan Crawford drove in her life. Cadillacs.

About 15 years or so. About 10 years ago there were a lot of shitty and ratty E9X M3 and E60 M5 but now clean and unmolested versions of those cars are real collectibles. This is of course granted the car is somewhat desirable to begin with for being a top trim car or a limited run car that differs in something that just a new paint color.

every vintage collectable was at one time a shitty old car but shitty cars will stay shitty cars wether old or new.

That time of year again ..

I'm surprised the australian government allows summernats to continue. The're hard against modifying of cars from what I hear, depending on what province you live in, and I know the aussie gov is all in on climate change to a much higher degree than the US gov so I'm surprised their equivalent of the EPA isn't swooping in and arresting people for doing burnouts. Also, australians have such terrible taste in car mods. Commodore after commodore with gigantic hood nigga wheels. And those big wheels all look like stuff that was on the nigmobiles 15 years ago here.

Aussie modified Falcons and Ute Commodores can be pretty sick when done tastefully. This Falcon below looks pretty rad for an early 80's type of drift build, it even has a turbocharged Barra motor!

I feel that the States definitely missed out on something like that from the other hemisphere when all we got are more Mustangs and their tuners. Though absolutely correct on the wheel choices being strange as hell for most of the aftermarket builds; I think they can do much better than this.
