I made a similar thread a long time ago so here is my latest post. I hope other countries are counting too.

Tchibo - a big company in europe - who became woke and changed the models in their catalogs from white to black models recently made a 180 and is now using white models again. Going woke caused them to lose a huge amount of money. Having mostly black models in catalogs in white countries is fucking bad marketing. The company is selling their products in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and eastern europe.

I have nothing against black models. They are earning a living from modeling and did nothing wrong. Having a black person here and there as a model is great but this company completely changed to like 90% black models. Absolutely insane! Of course people aren't going to buy their products anymore. All this dumb shit just because a black criminal scumbag in the US died.

Going woke means ruining your company and they learned it the hard way.

Times are truly changing! Slowly but at least it's happening!

I disagree with the "pendulum swing" as being a good thing. No matter what "side" the "pendulum" is on, the state grows bigger, the central banks grow bigger, there are more regulations, more laws, more intervention.
Both the left wing and the right wing are nothing but parts of the birds of the state, and the bird is ravenously hungry.

Im quite afraid of a pendulum swing to be honest, things will not change in the grand scheme of things but the right will start becoming like neocons again defending corpos and puritanism. It's shocking to me how quickly corpos are 180'ing, they're realizing they're losing public support fast. I don't mind that they're now against trannies and fact checking and shit but it feels so disingenuous. I think they shouldn't be spared from any upheaval just because they're switching sides.

I think it's more likely that ragebait and conspiracy garbage drives engagement far more than higher "quality" content.

Why bother with paying people to remove spam and insults and threats and lies if you can just not remove any of that and let users go completely delusional instead? I'd guess that kind of content attracts a lot of "whales" too, creates them even.
A question is whether engagement translates into more revenue. It would be interesting to see how twitter is doing, but unfortunately Musk made that company completely intransparent.

A schizo theory is that this is Meta pivoting towards oligarchy-tier influence campaigning, as being kingmaker in elections can be very profitable in less direct ways, as Musk has shown with X (whether it's long term remains to be seen).
