Canada is a failed state

Bro how do you think an opposition coalition gets into power???

First they vote no-confidence, then they hope the GG asks them to form government. Only works if there was a recent election, but even then if the PM suggests a new election the GG is supposed to just do whatever the PM says.
The King-Byng was kind of this. The Conservatives had won the 1925 election, but the Liberals used some friendly opposition MPs to remain in power. Later they were defeated in a non-confidence vote, and Byng offered the Cons the attempt to form a government rather than acceding to Mackenzie King's request to call an election. As the Cons had technically won the election. It became a thing and an election was called anyway.

It's a very grey area. With Harper the parties were pissed he was removing the vote subsidy. All official parties in Canada get subsidized per vote received. It's like 2 dollars per vote or something. They could technically have taken over the government if they agreed to form a coalition. However after prorogation cooler heads prevailed, and everyone realized that all three of those parties would have been massively punished at the polls.

So they can do it, but you would have no mandate to lead. Which is why in this case the most you could do is a single day coalition government and immediately call an election.

Do you guys remember in 2008 when Harper prorogued parliament for a whopping month (over the holidays) to prevent getting voted out of office (by a tenuous coalition with the still separatist Bloc) and everyone on the left were screeeeeeeaching at the top of their lungs for weeks? (until the Liberal party fell into disarray and performed an oil-swap of a leader change)

I dunno how they get away with the hypocrisy.
If the progressives didn't have double standards then they wouldn't have standards at all. Personally, I'm not angry at the Liberals for their blatant hypocrisy on prorogation. In fact, I'm happy that they're doing it because it will only increase the pressure before it blows up in their face. I said it on another thread, but Trudeau should've quit after the by-election loss in Toronto-St. Paul's. Now the party is a day late and a dollar short with their worst polling since 2011 and Trudeau's successor will be facing an inevitable defeat. Some are even saying the government could fall before the LPC elects a new leader because of the timetable for leadership contests.

Near the neighborhood I live in Canada, someone ended up shot and possibly murdered. Canada seems to have gun control laws similar to that of Mexico and that in turn stripped people's right of self defense. Yesterday while in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, I was almost shot and killed and I don't want to be in a terrible situation like that in Canada. With that being said, Canada is still an ideal place compared to Mexico when it comes to safety but still.

Calgary's Murder Rate is only 10% of that in Puerto Vallarta thankfully but I still noticed a concerning rise in Crime in Calgary. Mexico's crime makes it dangerous to walk alone at night when compared to Canada. Where as nothing happened to walking alone at night near Calgary, I was almost killed walking alone at night in Puerto Vallarta.

With that being said, despite this. Near Calgary, someone has asked me if I ever seen to person who murdered someone which was 2 months before the supposed murder took place near the neighborhood I live on. On top of that, there was recently a murderer on the loose in Calgary. It's getting to point where I am going to need to firearm to walk safely in Canada and I don't want it to get to that.

You sure you weren't a target of the RALPHAMALE for cramping his style by moving to Meh-hee-co? Gotta be careful, man.

The wording of Trudeau’s speech was super slimy (“I intend to resign, 😉”) but I haven’t heard too much commentary on what the prorogation actually does to pending bills. In short, they’re all dead. Which is great news because they are mostly incredible shitty bills.

The internet censorship bill, the pre-crime bill, the capital gains tax increase (that CRA has been collecting anyways), a dozen other catastrophic pieces of legislation that were only pending because the cons did some useful parliamentary rules lawyering.

CPC managed to obstruct any House business until the libs coughed up documents regarding hundreds of millions of disbursements from a green slush fund that look like LPC funnelled monstrous amounts to cronies (and their own businesses).

The probes into election interference and spending corruption also die at prorogue. So Justin might also have been trying to get out from under accountability for that as well.

Mark Carney’s theme is beginning to play in the distance, please please please do it libs it would be so fuckin funny. The globalists’ globalist has anti-charisma when trying to interact with the poors, he will make Michael Ignatieff look like 1992 Bill Clinton.

Anyways this is the puffy, just-stopped-crying face of rage and humiliation and I am here for it.

We’re not done suffering yet but hopefully he’s gotten the message and we don’t need to chuck gravel and scream at him in chairlifts so he knows we hate him, since his flunkies have been hiding negative news from him.

It'd be hypocritical of the conservatives to complain now over the issue of being able to prorogue parliament de facto.

We should also note, that in the UK proroguing parliament only lasts a few days to a week usually, not months*

My issue is not so much that Trudeau prorogued parliament, though I do have some issue with that-

Its that he prorogued it right when Trump is about to add a 25% tariff on Canada, and Canadians desperately need leadership and someone to negotiate with the US.

We're going to have neither, all to serve liberal ego and to instead try to give them a chance to find a new leader over the course of several months, without even parliament- while the US ravages our economy.

All I've seen is some ministers saying 'maybe Trump will have the grace to wait for our 'democratic' process to proceed', or the bloc quebecois leader saying 'theres no way he'll push for this when we don't have a leader and government'.

Its just, such a stupid, corrupt situation. Best hope is that Pollieve negiciates with Trump, while not being PM, but just, wow

The 7 million jeets

hell, they should have cashed in their chips before the riding boundary change last May, but Jagmeet was too stupid to do it for them.
At least proroguing will kill any bills not given royal assent, including the uniquely terrible C-63 AKA the Hate Crimes Minority Report bill. That's the one where you could get life in prison for posting on the farms saying mean things on the intarwebs. Hell, you could get life imprisonment for something you MIGHT say, at a later time (hence the Minority Report reference).

Trump from today's press conference: we are gonna fuck Canada up.

Canada: *** no one in charge****

Canada is going to give everything Trump demands because we have no leverage and there is no leader.

WORST case scenario: each provinces make their own trade deals with USA.

We are totally and utterly fucked.

Where does Pollieve stand as far as Hoholistan ("Ukraine") is concerned?

If he's going to do the same "as long as it takes" faggot dance, then it's confirmed he's just as much of a miserable failure as Castro Jr, and nothing useful or interesting will be done.

That's never not going to be a hard sell. The western Conservative bedrock of the country is tied to Ukraine the same way the Eastern Seaboard is to Italy and Ireland. But if the States aren't footing the bills its going to be a moot point by the time a Canadian election takes place anyway.
