Realistically speaking; what would be the implications of acquiring Greenland? Like good or bad? Would it be good for Americans? Or is it gonna be an excess weight to haul around?

Massive untapped resource deposits and pretty big security boosts. It would effectively close off the Atlantic entirely to our geopolitical rivals. And tapping the resource deposits would be a pretty massive economic boon in both the short and long term.

Trump isn't going to buy or annexe greenland, or canada for that matter. These are the big asks that he always comes out with. He'll follow up with what he really wants once he's got himself settled in the big chair. I'm not going to predict what they'll be, but I bet it'll be related to trade, or mineral rights.

It's a myth that they did this. Iceland wasn't settled until after it was named Iceland. Greenland used to be much warmer in the south. Every few years, receding ice and melting permafrost reveals another farm or settlement in places where it would only be possible to build such structures if the climate was warmer.
