Honestly, its the trope of someone who peaked in high school. We've all gone to high school with guys who never matured past their high school personality.

These guys typically have a "tough guy" persona that is a mask for their thin skin (fragile like glass you could say), as well as being too proud to work a menial job so they end up leeching from their friends and family. Only someone with the maturity of a child would be accepting of such a bum, either as a result of stunted growth or lack of life experience to recognize it. This is usually why they go after women/girls so young who are naively impressed by basic shows of power (i.e. has a car, some level of clout/fame from social media, etc).

It only becomes depraved once they start talking to children.
