most of California is in rain shadow from the coastal hills. You won’t see proper precipitation until you have some altitude in the sierra nevadas.

There’s snow cap in the sierras that can last into September, October, maybe all year. It feeds a few rivers that naturally want to go out to sea in the bay.

The most notable thing about California is that it has an absurd system of canals without which it truly would be a desert in the valley, and thats how LA gets water. It comes down from the mountains in eastern California, then gets collected and pumped over some more mountains to reach LA.

Shit is so dry there, dust in the air will make static that turns into heat lighting and starts fires.

The reproductive cycle of the ponderosa pine actually depends on wildfires as a stage. Basically, there will always be fires in California, and there always have been

Watching the Eaton fire area right now, and these homes might be valued at high prices because of location but these homes don’t look luxurious or 1% at all.

I've spent a few months in cali (poor life choices), not LA though, and yeah from my experience you can have a house listed for $2-3 mil have it be generic a middle class working family 3 or 4 bedroom home. Like regular shit your parents probably grew up in if they didn't have it rough. Suburb homes, in the middle of a sea of similarly priced houses. It's just heavy gentrification and rent-seeking behavior together with little new developments driving up the prices,pricing out younger folks.
