I do feel bad for the average Joe that is getting fucked. LA is not all million dollar homes. Most major insurance companies pulled out of homeowners insurance in CA a few years ago for new purchases, even on pre existing buildings, so the very wealthy in LA will be fine but the vast majority of people will be left holding the bag with no recourse to recover anything.
I know it's funny to dunk on California, but I do empathize with Mr and Mrs Everyman who is about to fucked up the ass by companies like State Farm. Insurance companies will use this as a reason to further curtail service to the state, making building and buying homes exponentially more expensive, and just exasperate an already critical housing crisis.
