Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

I remember watching the Hollywood sign burn down in Life After People, but the show suggest it still stands. Just a bit burnt. But an earthquake could destroy the weakened thing afterwards.

It was abandoned and crumbling by the late 70s.

‘We don’t know when we’re going to go home’: Private security in Palisades say they’re working around the clock

Arturo Garcia said he’s been working in the Palisades for 17 hours nonstop. His partner has been awake for over 24.

Like the firefighters he was surrounded by the night before, he’s guarding homes — not against the flames, but against looters, who might see opportunity in an affluent neighborhood suddenly deserted.

“We’re the only two guards that are up here,” said Garcia, standing feet away from one of the stately homes he’s been paid to protect. “We don’t know when we’re going to go home.”

Garcia, a deputy sheriff, said many private security companies work in the neighborhood. But his company, Nastec, had been the only one out there during the fires that have engulfed the area.

He and his partner joined fire trucks and police cars as some of the few vehicles patrolling the streets Wednesday with most of the neighborhood cordoned off.

He won’t say how many clients he has in the neighborhood. Only that “it’s a bunch” — and they are getting what they paid for.

In the last 24 hours, they have chased a “tag team duo” on a moped off a client’s property. They caught one man leaving
another home with a luxury bag filled with what he suspects was the family’s Christmas haul: a drone and a toy car. They sent his photo to the LAPD.

“We actively patrol nonstop just driving around,” said Garcia. “As soon as they see the lights on the top, [looters] know.”

And when smoke started coming out of another client’s home, they didn’t need to call the fire department — they just flagged a passing truck to put it out.

It’s one of the few homes still standing.

Retards have run of the thread all talking about why people should die in a fire and how they had it coming. Utterly disgusting.

I dont recall such behavior being leveled at people who die in hurricanes, earthquakes, floods or any other event. It is so disappointing to see this many KFers with this mindset. People are by and large much the same everywhere - try and work hard, step up the ladder of wealth and give life a go. But heaven forbid they think differently and that they deserve to die. It is so childish and disturbing - I cant imagine these ghouls have good relationships in real life.

Just because some people with wealth lost their homes, they deserved it because their crime was to be wealthy? We fucking voted for a Billionaire to be President. and his number two is the wealthiest man on Earth.

Most people in {Pasadena ain't living there because they are on easy street, and Wes tHollywood isn't a beacon of wealth either.

The ghouls should just start their own thread, I wish them all the best in their enjoyment in others peoples loss of livelihood and their entire world.

Just fuck off.

Surviving or looting?

Guess it makes sense people are trying to ransack houses right before they go up in flames, not like the cops can do anything about em. Actually am surprised there haven't been more reports of crime spiking everywhere else in LA cause of the police and fire being overwhelmed.

That fire gets hot enough and not even that'll help. Unibody cars, aluminum engine blocks...it'll be a goddamn nuclear event level crematorium.
LA is one of the few places in the country it makes sense to have a hydrogen fuel cell car.

Also I assume EV cars in a fire will just burn for hours by themselves.
