Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

I don't know if this is an urban myth or not. Aren't there supposedly oil wells all over LA hidden inside of buildings to not look gaudy? Is this a real thing because I don't imagine an oil field cathing fire would help things any.
I've heard about that, apparently they build fake houses to cover up oil wells that would otherwise be a blemish on beachfront property.

Roads are fully fucked

Grew up in the Bay Area, soon as I had the chance I bounced to the Sierras, then moved my parents up to be my Mom's caretaker for her ends days of cancer, hospice hotels are the most heartless places to put your family. Within a week of her passing my Dad broke his hip and he's been guilt tripping me to not move out, can't blame him at all really, can't leave him all alone (can't count on my sister two blocks away to spend time with him unless she needs money). It's like quicksand, the more you want to leave, the harder it becomes to even theorize an exit strat.

This state has been spiraling my whole life, and since the coof it has turned into a terminal velocity freefall. I hate this state more than I hate Newsom, Arnold was 10x better than that caricature of a sleezy loan shark in a straight to DVD mob movie, Arnie should get more praise imo, budgeting and usage of tax money was well done.

At least it's peaceful up in the mountains and we only have one schizo homeless guy, who is respectful and can fend for himself without begging aggressively. Polar opposite to the Bay, where you got crackheads screamin in your face when you don't give them a couple bucks, while trying not to strep on a dirty needle on the driveway of a $6,000,000 home that just sold. And SF was way ahead of the world when it comes to human shit splattered on the sidewalk like a Jackson Pollack painting, look up the SF poop map, it's wild.

We got evac'd for the Gold Complex fire in the summer, quite scary, can't imagine going through that while stupid beaners and smoothbrained hipsters fucking abandon their cars ON THE FREEWAY AND START WALKING. Also had to evac for the Tubbs Lane fire in '15, waiting in traffic as the air gets filled with ash and smoke is terrifying, but I can't wrap my head around people abandoning their cars to walk and just completely fuck every person in the jam behind you, that's either profoundly stupid, or murder worthy selfishness.

I've known this implosion was imminent ever since Trump's first election campaign was in full swing, just by watching the left sperg the fuck out and causing chaos, yet still not losing a single seat in congress and agreeing the best course of action to deal with the problems arising would be to REEEEEEEEEEE RUSSIA ELECTION INTERFERENCE RIOOOOOOT for 4 years straight and burn through our tax dollars to rectify the stolen election through destruction of public property and private businesses.

I'm not political, haven't voted since 08 for Obomba, disillusioned of the people having any impact on the government's affairs and ambitions. But, to me, both political extremes are painfully stupid, blaming a political faction for whatever dissatisfactory outcome is pathetic; but holy fuck the left will just start throwing tantrums and breaking shit if they don't get their way, in the most literal sense.

Fuck it, maybe Gavin pulled a 4d chess move... just let it burn all the way to Sacramento. Maybe a phoenix can rise from the ashes and the golden state can become something other than a fucking mockery for the world to gawk at.

Having a drink for the first time in 4 years, because I feel like it's a good time to sit back and watch the show. Cheers kiwibros, I'm sneedin.

Firefighters selecting specific affluent properties to save reminded me of Crassus from Ancient Rome. He had his own private fire brigade that he would send out, buying the burning properties for extortionately low prices before giving his men permission to put the fire out.

edit: hit me with clocks

Crassus was somehow better then this because he didn't lie and everyone knew his firefighters were a private enterprise racket. The LAFD is supposed to be for the city public at large.

yess i feel like i've heard of this as well. they also have oil jacks all over the place tucked into regular ass neighborhoods. i always thought this was kinda cool just bc the pictures are so striking to look at, so unusual. dis gon be crazy....

also aren't the la brea tar pits in los angeles? the potential scale of this fire...the mind boggles.

yeah, threats dont work so good after a DECADE of waggle the finger law systems. Florida on the other hand threatens sometimes, but they DO NOT fuck around, and everyone knows it. Combine that with a frantic situation, any criminals who aren't jelly soft won't care.

Huh, this song isn't available in the states? insane.
The Sherrif in I think Polk County actively encourages people to shoot home invaders. The video made the rounds a year or so back.
