Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

I don't know where else to post this, but I miss the whole Slender Man mythos from Something Awful. The German woodcuts and ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics were really cool, not to mention the excerpts from academic books where the authors didn't understand what the fuck they meant, and the photographs where you could barely make him out in the background.

The Slender Man would be great material for something like a Delta Green campaign.
Sadly we are never getting those days back.

The god awful slender man movie along with whatever happened along with it lowkey ruined slender man's rep within the public sphere ,, really doesn't help that the slender verse community is a former shell of itself with some creators turning out to be nonces or some series getting deleted off the internent.

I do hope that whatever new slender man thing we get in the future is good.

This is the video you're talking about, I'm pretty sure:
It's a classic. They even put up a counter for mid-sentence tense swaps.
i unironically miss this era of internet horror. Of course it was full of cringy nonsense with you squidwards and sonic.exe (why is this still a thing lol) but i guess this is because i was into gaming and media at the time to vibe with it. I am not sure and maybe someone can confirm but is creepypasta even still a thing because i haven't seen it. Nowadays i feel people moved onto the real horror stuff of covering disasters and murders.
Sometimes, i wonder if the era where everyone was making a Jeff the Killer esque OC where increasingly edgy shit like rape or mutilation happened to them is better than the carebear era that clutches pearls at retarded edgyness like "Fucktoy Corey"

No, video essay child, i wont watch your 50 minute word vomit about Urbanspook being retarded.
No no no instead you can watch their 50 minute video where they have to baby talk around the youtube censors and describe a gruesome murder but can't be too specific because again the censors might bring down the thor hammer of shadow ban.

It's not just that they hate Urbanspook, one of them is recreating his series to be more SJW-safe, but if Urbanspook is so bad then why reboot his idea?
It’s bc of the whole “fixing” culture on whatever is happening in the community.

Gonna sperg a bit but Many of the people/projects who become “the anti-something” will eventually fall into the same issues the og product they so claim they are fixing.

Like at this point I’d just make an original project from scrap than skinwalk an already existing project

I feel like this would be so controversial just because he didn't use any of the watered down gen Z Tik Tok slang for the title like "Squidward's Sewer Slide" or "Squidward's Self Deletion".

Bad Creepypasta is based. It sucks that they upload once every blue moon, but there probably aren't many creepypastas being written. I can't stand half of the cast, though; they keep cutting each other off to make bad jokes.
I feel like the last Bad Creepypasta thing those people did was when they were making fun of Linkara's analog horror, honestly wished they could make fun of analog horror, since it's like creepypasta but more autistic in some cases.

I listened to about 20 minutes before giving up. Literally WHAT IF UZUMAKI, BUT CIRCLES!

It really encompasses the retardation and lack of effort in the genre. Spirals work as a scary motive due to being imperfect, highly recurring and endless, they even double as a metaphor for insanity/obsession. Circles aren't scary, if anything they might be the least scary geometric shape.
I just finished the video, it has a lot of Uzumaki, but the main villain is a wendigo pied piper type thing. Pretty meh honestly, once you get to bastardized Indian lore and absurd level cover-ups (with no fun explanation on how they did it) you start to lose me pretty fast. Circles can be scary, but they usually represent cycles and loops. But because the story is a knock off of Uzumaki, the creator took the themes that fit the spiral (going down rabbit holes of insanity) and tried to apply it to a different shape, which doesn't work. If there was some kind of cycle characters were trapped in, then the circle motif would be fitting. As it is right now, you can replace it with any shape, and it would have zero impact on the story.

The Slender Man stabbing was the biggest reason why his reputation was ruined, plus the fanfiction that made the perpetrators think he would take them to his fantasy castle where Jeff the Killer and all the other crappypasta characters live. It's bewildering how he was turned into both a boogeyman who children feared and a Nice Guy™ with superpowers and good intentions. But the idea of a faceless man in a suit who stalks you, destroys your careers and relationships, and breaks you down psychologically until you cave in and start carrying out his dirty work is still an interesting one. Neither Marble Hornets nor Tribe Twelve depicted Slender Man as a fairy-tale monster who abducted children wandering too deep into the woods.
