Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

I believe the way insurance works in California is that you get a choice to rebuild or take a lump sum payout. But the payout doesn’t cover replacement cost, only the dwelling coverage (which does not include the value of the land). A lot of people will probably choose this option and buy homes elsewhere.
One must wonder if LA will loosen up on their construction codes and permit process to speed up the rebuilding process.
They 100% will. Look what happened when the 10 freeway burned down. It magically got fixed faster than any public works project I’ve ever seen here.

I only just noticed this, but is there a reason that the Sunset Fire hasn't had an update on the government's site since approx. 5am?

Has it somehow been sitting in the same place without change for 7+ hours now? Or is the tracker just really behind?

I feel it's time to ask a question that should be obvious but no one has really seem to come up with.

Why hasn't California been using desalination plants this whole time to refill their aquafers? And don't give me that crap about them throwing the salt back into the ocean, that's retarded and unnecessary, there's no reason to put the salt back in once it's already been separated. If they were doing it then they're retarded and should've been slapped with a golfing glove and told not to.
they say every time this is brought up that it's too expensive. it wouldn't be if the niggerfaggots involved were actually researching the problem actively.

desalinization on a mass scale is one of those 'revolutionize the world' technologies we're always chasing but nobody really puts money into because it threatens a specific power monopoly. in this case, water control. don't forget the US actively wields it's water over mexico like a weapon, so it's not like we aren't okay with water shortages in the right spots, even close to home.

Ya, because if they refuse to honor coverage for obviously in coverage incidents to people with millions to pay lawyers they are totally going to honor your coverage. :story:
My home is not worth millions of dollars and is not located in an area where it is likely to burn down, flood, or get blown away. I have no problems getting and keeping insurance coverage. At some point, Californians choosing to live in high risk areas will have to come to terms with the fact that no one wants to be left holding the bag for them.

if you live next to a volcano, you can't be picky about how much volcano insurance is.

Ditto for the Eaton Fire.

No fuckin' way a fire with zero percent containment has been sitting at 10,000 acres for almost 24 hours.

Because NIMBY faggots, insane amounts of red tape, and the fact it costs energy to run which California, a state with rolling blackouts in the summer, doesn't have and won't build because it's bad for the planet.

Hence why a 500 million dollar desalination plant in Carlsbad cost twice as much and is still protested by Commiefornians.

Tried checking cameras and it's not been very helpful. For example, here's a direct view of the Palisades fire:

vs the best camera for a view of the Sunset fire:

Across the country there are a lot of ecosystems that would typically burn regularly. However people artificially put out the fires to decrease risk of property damage. A lot of research as gone into the effects of this type of policy and they have found it stifles ecosystems as well as posing greater threat of a large fire down the road. This is why the Smokey the Bear programs have changed to try and get people to limit man-made fires while having less of a focus on wildfires caused by natural phenomenon (lighting strikes as an example). Unfortunately, California is filled with retards who refuse to follow the policy changes other states have made and are reaping the whirlwind. Unlucky.

They have to cancel the 2028 LA Olympics over this right? There is no way they are gonna fix the shithole of a city by then.
The Olympics is happening mainly at SoFi Stadium and the Memorial Coliseum which is far from the fires. The closest major sports complex to the fires is probably the Rose Bowl. I doubt it will get destroyed even if the fires get to it as it is a giant bowl of concrete.
