Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

$50 billion in estimated losses
That's seriously low-balling it at this point, I think.

Pour one out for any couriers in the area.
So there's no water in the fire hydrants, smaller fires are starting elsewhere in the state that can't be fought, the people in charge of alerts fucked up and sent a county wide evac order, even if the fire hydrants had water a bunch have been stolen, the state doesn't have trillions of gallons of water saved to fight it because it was dumped to make room for a bunch of rain that never came, the bigger fires are too big to fly over, a lot of the fireries are convict labor paid like 6 bucks a day and to top it off its winter so summer could have a fresh wave of terrible fires. Have I missed anything?
On the bright side there might not be a whole lot left to burn in this area come summer.

few decent snaps I grabbed of the big ole retard tanker for my retard enthusiasts

They have to cancel the 2028 LA Olympics over this right? There is no way they are gonna fix the shithole of a city by then.

You're brazillian, you damn well know that they aint cancelling shit, not to this, not to record crime rates.

Covid was the only thing that was able to do so and it was a literal worldwide "pandemic"

If the CA state government doesn't have a detailed plan to solve this exact problem then they've failed their disaster planning so comprehensively I cannot comprehend it.
They have failed in everything else this comprehensively.

I dunno why you wouldn't expect the absolute worst case possible from California.

The prospects for money laundering and kickbacks are too strong

I’ve never heard the word “jury” being used in any context outside of a group of people that make decisions in trials.

Obviously I’m not an expert on Middle English who can dispute this, but there’s not a lot of similar cases, like “sixteenth century words with completely different meanings when combined with one particular verb that sound like normal non nautical words”

Like, I didn’t even know nautical English was different from other forms of English
Jury
Etymology 2
Early 1600s, of uncertain origin. Perhaps ultimately from Old French ajurie, from Latin adiūtō.

Alternatively, perhaps ultimately from Frankish *garu (“ready, prepared”), related to Middle English yore, ȝare, from Old English ġeoro, ġearu (“ready, prompt, prepared, quick”).

(nautical) For temporary use; applied to a temporary contrivance.

jury mast
jury rudder

Derived terms

jurymast
jury-rig

jury mast (plural jury masts)

(nautical) A temporary mast, in place of one that has been carried away or broken.

1787 October 11, Hester Thrale Piozzi, Thraliana:
[P]erhaps the Jury Masts may just serve to carry me into Harbour, (as they have done,) and then the ship is to sink:—very likely, for such events happen perpetually.

(medicine) An apparatus to support the trunk and head in cases of spinal disease.

what? what the fuck do you mean estimation mr. fire chef? you're the one assigning people to the fires, shouldn't you have exact figures on who works where? jesus christ, who the fuck is actually in charge of this giga-sized dumpster fire?
Now is not the time be casting blame. Now is the time for all of us to come together. As a community. Behind the brave and diverse fire fighters who are doing their very best. We should also take a moment to think about how this effects the most marginalized among us as well as the Native American tribes on whose land these fires are now burning. Also, its all the Climates fault. So if you think about it, isn't it really all our fault? Or at the very least, all the Republicans and Drumpfs fault?
