I remember Black Saturday in Victoria, Australia. They knew it was dangerous and warned everyone if a fire broke out, they would be powerless to stop it given the conditions. 19,000 fire fighters were on standby and in position BEFORE there was even a fire, and still when that thing started and they headed straight to it, it ate a million acres and killed over 170 before it was done.

I had family friends lose their home to those fires.
