From one failed governor to another.
I don't see why not, its an active threat to the state, the people who live near it and the homes around it, and its an invasive. After a fire like this the state government could use the political will to get a policy like that in place to prevent fires like this happening again. Maybe this is just a cultural divideOne of the problems with the urban/wildland interface is that a lot of the eucalyptus is on private lands, and the state can't go onto a homeowner's lot and demand that they cut down a specific tree
Maybe another cultural divide. If an aussie elected official called for a Day of Prayer in the face of a disater thats not being controlled that would signal the government has given up on trying to fix it and thus cause widespread panic, and outcry. As well as anger that the pollies are wasting time praying (doing literally nothing) and not solving the issue. Unless you want fires and a riot I would never even consider that an option. But I'm not American maybe the yank would like that I dunno. Also, I don't want to dunk on atheists too hard but this seems like a situation where a responsible elected official would call for a Day of Prayer.
It has apparently been an ongoing tradition for Quebec to send them to Los Angeles once their own wildfire season winds down.HOLY SHIT AMAZING DETAIL, THE DAMAGED SUPERSCOOPER IS ON LOAN FROM CANADA
I'm still catching up so I lack context for this, but if an "undocumented citizen" did actually start the fire, ain't no way California is letting that get out. They'll pour more resources into stopping that story than they will stopping the actual fires.I really hope it was that wetback that started the fires.
It's because climate change is only ever marketed as HEAT HEAT HEAT. It is only ever talked about in terms of extreme heat, drought, and ice bergs melting. Nobody ever talks about the alternative (which is a big freeze). I guess that's because freezing doesn't seem as scary as being burnt up...and we all know fearmongering to control the public is the actual number one goal. Therefore, extreme heat + drought = wildfires, which isn't entirely off-base but of course ignores so many other factors at play. But climate change causing wildfires? That is complete bullshit.
Why do you think the entire space laser starting forest fires meme exists. It's your manbearpig theory. They need to blame it on manbearpig otherwise people might start wondering if their elected leaders are fucking incompetent.
Thats a blast from the past.Bling Ring
We don't build great things like this anymore.watch if you are bored and curious about it's performance (it's impressive).
His house was classy too. I like John Goodman.John Goodman's house burned down. I fucking LOVE this guy - and if you don't feel sorry for him, you're a total fag.
Reminds of the scene in Chernobyl where Gorbachov is struggle to comprehend radioactive lava.the fire is so hot its melting the cars alluminum wheels
If they don't take it, someone else will. They already arrived there a while ago, LA is home to the duel citizens and they lost their homes. Lol
was this confirmed news drone or just like a civilian drone from some random asshole? & just how durable are those little fuckers...
MacArthur Park is a long way from the fires. I'd ask if she's not fleeting rampaging drug users instead, but in that neighborhood she's probably used to them.Have a friend who got married on New Year's Eve, lives near the McArthur Park area. She's packing right now and is prepping to leave. It's like a mixture of concern, anxiety and fear all in one for me right now. Hoping, praying, whatever that she gets out safely tonight.
Getting dangerously close to mentioning (((The Eternal Kiwi))) there.Isn't most of california's water supply being used by billionaires farming out useless garbage like pom and pistachios? This would probably change nothing.
its california, it will be like 6 guns totalMy heart breaks. There are so many guns that will be lost to the fires.
Waiting for the "OMG they killed Kenny" jokes once he is put outKenny has officially reached 1000 acres I always believed in him.
The cycle when I lived in SoCal was :I dont get the whole climate change causing wildfires BS. Of course climate change isnt causing the fires. Intentional and unintentional arsonist, electrical line sparking and melting powerline fuses, mechanical failures on vehicles, lighting and the occasional self combusting haybale cause wildfires. Roughly in that order of frequency of occurrence. Climate change is not an ignition source. Erratic weather patterns and less rainfall is making fire seasons longer, sometimes, but not always more intense. Wildfires happen all the time. Just you don't hear about them.
But climate change causing wildfires? That is complete bullshit.
I would like to call out ""Christian content creatiors"" saying it's wrong to laugh at this, it's not Sodom and Gomorrah, ect.I wonder if the arsonists and firebugs...
Are agents of God doing a repeat of Sodom and Gommorah.
“Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the LORD out of heaven.”
Genesis 19:24
Don't forget the massive almonds and alfalfa plantations. If CA was serious about water managments none of these crops would be grown thereIsn't most of california's water supply being used by billionaires farming out useless garbage like pom and pistachios? This would probably change nothing.
Its only sad because their constituents also won't learn.I can't decide whether it's more sad or hilarious that the California elites will learn nothing, insist that they did everything they could have done to prevent this, and claim that this was exclusively caused by climate change from red states.
A Red Wave of flames. The red wave is here!
