Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

most of the places that burned might not be able be insured by anyone.
Insurance companies have been using this as a pretext not to insure any of us. People all over SoCal who have never even had a fire in their area are losing coverage because of fires in general.

We tried to demonstrate that we do proper weed abatement and have a large defensible space but our prices have skyrocketed anyway, something like 40% in a single year. I’m just grateful we even still HAVE insurance but I have no doubt these fires will see an end to that. Our neighborhood is rural lower-middle-class and poor and it’s been a bloodbath year with insurance hikes.

I completely understand cheering the elites losing their homes. I hate LA. It’s a crime-filled cesspit. I wish the fires HAD gotten Skid Row as well, because there isn’t a single redeemable bum living on it. My husband occasionally does work in LA and I have always said an extra prayer for him to be safe when he goes there.

The Getty Villa has survived the fire!

Power is back on in my community. It looks like today will be the last day this week with gusty winds and I’m hopeful that the power company won’t go full retard anymore for the time being.

The Californian Derangement Syndrome is on full display ITT.

California's chief export is agriculture and the farmers suffer from progressive gay faggot legislation more than any other Californian. The ag countries in CA hate Las Angeles and San Francisco more than Null or @AnOminous ever could.

Muh "cornfields don't vote"

Sidenote but didn't Orange County (which does have a lot of people) end up flipping blue?

Blame the state legislature for that not the insurance companies. They passed a law requiring insurance companies provide coverage in these uninsurable areas in order to do business anywhere else in the state. So they left.

The Palisades Fire is now 8% contained and the flare-up at the Kenneth Fire has been stopped.

Meanwhile, the Eaton Fire is still at 0% containment.
Ya know, given the Getty's money and separation from the rest of the city I wouldn't be surprised if they could just seal the entire place up in the event of a nuke or something.

I don't recall seeing the sex dungeons when I was at the Getty but it is a fantastic museum. It's free and it probably helps that it's kind of out of the way to get to in LA so you don't have homeless hanging out all over like fuckin everywhere else in LA. I took the bus when I went, so it's not like you absolutely need a car to get to it. It pulls right up to the tram, which is actually a hover train, that you have to board to actually get up to the museum.

Also side note, when I took the LA metro I was fuckin shocked that its ticketing system is basically based on the honor system. You're supposed to scan your card/ticket when you get on the train but I don't think I ever saw anyone doing spot checks of people's tickets. I assume they basically just gave up on ever actually collecting fares.
As somebody who uses LA Metro (and the transit systems in SoCal) regularly it’s mostly the buses that technically function on an honor system, the subways and light rail systems have cops checking passengers for TAP cards and making sure said cards have valid fare. In addition to that, they’ve made it harder for fare-jumping in their subway system by altering the turnstiles.

The problem with their buses is that the only form of MTA security on each vehicle is just the driver which leaves that line of transit susceptible to hobos and other undesirables boarding sans fare.

There is no way the damage will be rebuilt. There is already a critical shortage of tradesmen and construction workers as many young men decide instead to go to university and study something worthless.

There just isn't the workforce there to do the repairs.
What if you're an immigrant? Big brain

> come back after like 12 hours
>its still people endlessly edge posting or moralfagging

This is beyond tiresome. NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK, you will never convince someone to care about the fires if they don’t or vice versa. What a waste of oxygen

Can we get a debate thread so this thread is actually readable
> complains that people have opinions, good or bad
> injects his opinion in after he complained about others doing the same thing

Faggot, if you don't like it or can't handle it just stop watching the thread. Being a hypocrite isn't suddenly going to change the discourse of the conversation. I swear midwits are the dumbest niggers alive

If even 10% of the people in LA county take this seriously, the roads are going to be a shitshow
Honestly if I lived anywhere near LA I would leave.
I’m guessing at least a dozen bums died. Most of them probably made it out because they didn’t have a house to try to save. The fires have also spared places like Skid Row that have the highest homeless populations. But there is going to be at least one skeleton in a melted wheelchair.
some of them that passed were probably higher than a kite and didn’t realize there was a real fire headed towards them.

Just the interruption in Narcan dispensing equals a dead bum every however many minutes

Over here, which is about as far as you can be from LA, our fire department has been tasked with reviving the opioid zombies for some time. If they’ve had that idea over there, some people are just not getting their lives saved to do more drugs.

There's something both poetic and horrifying about part of the country being on fire and the other part being covered in snow and ice.
