Insurance companies have been using this as a pretext not to insure any of us. People all over SoCal who have never even had a fire in their area are losing coverage because of fires in general.most of the places that burned might not be able be insured by anyone.
We tried to demonstrate that we do proper weed abatement and have a large defensible space but our prices have skyrocketed anyway, something like 40% in a single year. I’m just grateful we even still HAVE insurance but I have no doubt these fires will see an end to that. Our neighborhood is rural lower-middle-class and poor and it’s been a bloodbath year with insurance hikes.
I completely understand cheering the elites losing their homes. I hate LA. It’s a crime-filled cesspit. I wish the fires HAD gotten Skid Row as well, because there isn’t a single redeemable bum living on it. My husband occasionally does work in LA and I have always said an extra prayer for him to be safe when he goes there.
The Getty Villa has survived the fire!
Power is back on in my community. It looks like today will be the last day this week with gusty winds and I’m hopeful that the power company won’t go full retard anymore for the time being.
