Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

Most surprising part about the insurance stuff is that their isn't a regulation that states if they are covering x amount then they must have y amount on hand with annual stress tests done.

For all the regulations about how people must have insurance their sure as fuck doesn't seem to be any regulations on the insurance companies providing a service.
This is retarded. Insurance would never work this way. Insurance companies purchase insurance themselves via companies like Lloyd’s. Nobody is sitting on a pile of money waiting for a 100 year catastrophic event.

Imagine being a Russian/Muslim/Troon or something, trying to cause havoc in the USA.

For just twenty dollars and a tiny bit of fent, you could bribe like five junkies into starting a fire right in the heart of LA.

Ultimately, we need to either bring back asylums or massive graves for these people. Either one will work. You could legit clean up places like Kensington PA and skid row overnight.

And nothing would happen. It would be a minor fire.

It took years of policy mismanagement on a gargantuan scale to turn basically the entire state into a pile of tinder. This is the kind of disaster that required GOVERNMENT to create.

How much do you like or dislike them from "you will spend 30 minutes eulogizing your father at his funeral" to "gonna put them jn a Medicare home with Shaniqua and Conseula for company"?
I don't want to de-rail the thread too bad, my parents are awesome, they regularly come hang out with our group of 30 somethings and drink beers and such. But I do wonder how much damage I could do replying to one of those texts or calls if they fucked up and I was an addict or a deranged tranny that hated them for being Trump voters or something.

To me, that would be a signal to not buy a house in that kind of place because I don’t wanna die with my entire family in a fucking fire, but you do you boo.
Reminds me of the dark black gorilla niggers in bongland who buy a new house built on a flood plain and then have the sheer gall to appear on TV acting surprised when they get their shit pushed in by the local river.

That trick works when a poor person loses their house and is desperate for money.

It doesn't work on millionaires who will tell you to fuck off for lowballing them.
I wouldn't be surprised if some of those land parcels have lost quite a bit of value. As other people have pointed out - most of Pacific Palisades is just... gone.

There's still going to be value in being that close to the sea and to Santa Monica/Los Angeles. But the land is likely heavily contaminated, and probably won't have utilities for a while (plastic pipes melted etc). Insurance will probably be much harder to get, and people will remember the photos and videos that came out of this as being terrifying. Unlike when part of a city burns, the whole thing's gone - so do you have a guarantee your lovely well off neighbours will be rebuilding, or will they just give up in light of this and move to some other nice neighbourhood? Will the lovely little boutiques and restaurants you liked to visit reopen, or will it just be soulless chains? How good are the local schools going to be after this - if they're even rebuilt?

The neighbourhood that ends up replacing Pacific Palisades might just not be as desirable, and that will lower land value aside from any knock ons to increased insurance (if you can still get insurance).

He is asking how many homeless burned to death.
No shit. I'm pointing and laughing about a retarded question. You really think anyone without shelter is going to stick around to get burnt up in a raging fire driven by 50mph winds?
He was being hopeful that more people died.
Not my fault retards cant understand how fire emergency works.

The fire seems to be getting under control now and LA still exist. SAD, PATHETIC. Ring it up, another nothing ever happens W.
Supposed to be gusty through Sunday.

This habbening is going to continue to habben.

Also, 10 people dead is bullshit. Too many videos of people fucking around for some of them not to have found out.

They're finding roasty toastys in buildings along the PCH. In other words, people who for whatever reason couldn't or wouldn't get themselves across the street into the ocean. If people with that proximity to guaranteed safety are dead, the poor fags who lived two miles up the canyon are also dead.

SoCal is surreal. There are signs down there along the lines of "Warning: This canyon is an extreme fire zone!" and there's always some dipshit who thinks that sign doesn't apply to them.

On the one hand, fuck 'em, but on the other hand, fuck 'em.

All I can wonder is how, when they operate on such large volume are they not able to cover a disaster that their number crunching nerds could forsee as happening.
You know they're banned from offering insurance across State lines meme, right?

"Such a large volume" is homeowners in California, split between companies, with the risk pool segregated from the funds of other risk pools. Meaning, they aren't legally allowed to cover it with their entire wad, just the homeowner fire pool wad. They're not allowed to risk funding to risk pools, and they're also required to make a profit for their investors.

TL : DL It's shitty because of the massive amount of shitty government regulation, usually imposed after the last shitty regulations failed.

Some might have been too fucked up on fent or whatever, and it wouldn't surprise me if some died trying to loot too and went to hell already pre-baked. But yeah the reasonably sober ones probably fucked off before most of the homeowners could load their shit into their SUVs.

Time for a fire update courtesy of WatchDuty.
  • Palisades Fire: 8% contained
  • Eaton Fire: 3% contained
  • Hurst Fire: 37% contained
  • Kenneth Fire: 35% Contained with forward progress stopped
  • Sunset Fire: 100% contained and currently inactive
The good news is that the Eaton Fire finally has some containment despite it only being 3%.
No motive has been presented yet, but there's a good possibility that he wanted to start a fire to cause people to evacuate so that he could loot homes. The police haven't released anything about the mans identification yet, but part of me suspects it's because he doesn't have any and they have no clue who this person is yet. If it turns out that he's an illegal immigrant Trump is going to have a field day with this.
That's what the folks around here think the in regards to the Sunset and Kenneth Fires (along with some of the smaller fires).
