“They are taking on these extreme beliefs that give them a sense of power—they believe they have the power to change the nature of the Earth,” Djupe said. “The adoption of these sort of beliefs is happening incredibly fast.”
Conferences with names like Open the Heavens. A training course called Vanquish Academy where people could learn “advanced prophetic weaponry” and “dream intelligence.”

hey I'm with you there, reign in everyone who published the russian collusion hoax, the peepee tapes, and every last mentally ill man claiming to be a woman!
Yea I can dig the last part but you do know the “Russian hoax” just meant there was never any evidence directly tying Trump to any wrong doing but several Russian nationals were using fake U.S. identities in order to purchase political ads to assist the Trump campaign in the 2016 election.

Lastly, I have no idea what the “peepee tapes” are. Nor do I care but elaborate if you like.

Sorry, not trying to derail but just needed to set the Russia thing straight.

Kamala still got 48% of the vote. Popular opinion hasn't swung at all; It's just gotten more divided and the ridiculous overreaches by both parties (but definitely led by the dems) have resulted in wild swings in power, but not opinions - Most people still believe in bullshit, and are "moderate" on DEI bullshit, but are more scared to get inbetween the psychopaths and the nutjobs who want to roll in the mud with the psychos.

This is constant escalation, and it's no longer a pendulum, just a wrecking ball. I shudder at what freedoms we're going to lose under the next administration and shudder even more at how those freedoms lost are going to "justify" the next round of psychopath-pedophile escalation.
Sounds good to me. I hope the GOP plays it like the Democrats do and run the football as far down the field as they can. I hope all the right-wing activist lawyers like Lin Wood, Sidney Powell, and Larry Klayman get named federal judges. I want leftists to experience FOR REAL just 1% of what they've put half the country through. Once we get to that point, maybe then we can start talking about right-wing overreach and start compromising again.

So because some actual Russian group did some (poorly) placed ads that also included ads for BLM and Spaghetti-Os, that means "muh Russia" narrative is real? I guess you must accept the Fentanyl Floyd Summer of Love was an insurrection against the US given CHAZ and the rhetoric of commies.

but wouldn't you rather turn the other cheek? its what jesus would want! Also jesus would really like it if you brought up tacos after a christian charity helps an illegal come to america to rape and kill your daughter,

Part of the Russia thing were tapes that Steele said showed Trump golden showering with Russian prostitutes. Putin allegedly had the tapes and was using them to blackmail Trump. Only problem was, they didn't exist and the whole thing was made up and caused a "will they be released" thing in the media and well you can't prove something doesn't exist. Then the whole part came out that Clinton funded it and the guy who did it was blowing smoke when he really didn't have anything. Clinton and her foundation denied everything and ran with plausible deniability until all the reports basically made it impossible but most media barring conservative media either ignored it completely or minimized it. Then the two congressional things ran that didn't prove or disprove anything and both sides claimed victory and ran with it

Let's face it. The only reason why they're doing this is because they can see the user metrics on the backend and they know exactly how many users they've lost to the Torbmeister due to heavy-handed censorship policies.
that much is obvious to everyone paying attention
That and a Republican winning the popular vote for once.

I think 99% of Americans have finally woken up to see just how far they let the gay and trans lunacy go and regret it. Facebook has access to everyone's DMs, they know what people are talking about. The left recreated weimar and are now shocked that people are reacting like they did the first time.

I rainbow'd you for reasons but tbh I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see a perceptible shift. Not a full swing, it'll be slow and gradual. I've already seen it on a limited basis, things like lesbians pushing back on troons spamming girlcock memes in lesbian communities. That gives me hope.
Exactly. Even Reddit isn't immune to the overton window shifting and more things being seen as acceptable. Most subreddits are run by ordinary people who end up being part of the overton shift (whetever they're aware of it or not). No it'll likely not be something that you can put your finger on like specific policies but the power their screeching had is fading to "who gives a shit?".

Once one platform breaks the censorship blockade, the censorship on the other platforms starts looking more and more ridiculous to the average user. When everywhere is censored, normies assume that's just how things are.

But after a Twitter broke free, people got used to being able to call men "men" on Twitter, and they got used to seeing others doing it. After that, the censorship everywhere else starts to look more and more ridiculous. Now facebook has broken from the blockade as well it's going to look even worse.

I still don't think Reddit's going to do anything about it, but at the very least it's going to stick out more and more as The Troon Platform.

What will happen is that they'll have a harder time justifying sitewide bans for subreddits and users who call males men. Individual subreddit strong-holds won't change their rules (which is, to be fair, how it's supposed to work), but the screeching tranny power jannies will get less and less institutional power. Ultimately, even Reddit has to abide to the average user to have a chance at being profitable.

Isn't Tencent still in control of reddit? It's never going to be a free speech platform like it once was but it can be less of a breeding ground for incel moderators for sure.

Had to read this through an archive.
What was happening in the barn in Lancaster County did not represent some fringe of American Christianity, but rather what much of the faith is becoming. A shift is under way, one that scholars have been tracking for years and that has become startlingly visible with the rise of Trumpism. At this point, tens of millions of believers—about 40 percent of American Christians, including Catholics, according to a recent Denison University survey—are embracing an alluring, charismatic movement that has little use for religious pluralism, individual rights, or constitutional democracy. It is mystical, emotional, and, in its way, wildly utopian. It is transnational, multiracial, and unapologetically political. Early leaders called it the New Apostolic Reformation, or NAR, although some of those same leaders are now engaged in a rebranding effort as the antidemocratic character of the movement has come to light. And people who have never heard the name are nonetheless adopting the movement’s central ideas. These include the belief that God speaks through modern-day apostles and prophets. That demonic forces can control not only individuals, but entire territories and institutions. That the Church is not so much a place as an active “army of God,” one with a holy mission to claim the Earth for the Kingdom as humanity barrels ever deeper into the End Times.
By last year, 42 percent of American Christians agreed with the statement “God wants Christians to stand atop the ‘7 Mountains of Society,’ ” according to Paul Djupe, a Denison University political scientist who has been developing new surveys to capture what he and others describe as a “fundamental shift” in American Christianity. Roughly 61 percent agreed with the statement that “there are modern-day apostles and prophets.” Roughly half agreed that “there are demonic ‘principalities’ and ‘powers’ who control physical territory,” and that the Church should “organize campaigns of spiritual warfare and prayer to displace high-level demons.”
Y'know what, I'll fucking buy it. Hard not to look at drag queens in demonic getup insisting on reading to young children in libraries while the dangerhaired, septum-pierced librarians are screeching about how banning pornographic literature from said children's section = a censorious book ban and not think the demonically-possessed are 100% real & stalking our streets. But if it's any consolation, even before Zuck started bending the knee to the Orange King, the people getting the trooning of kids banned/restricted, pro-life victories post-Dobbs in states like Florida & South Dakota, gigachads tearing down Satanist displays around public offices and Nativity scenes, etc. have given me hope that there are still real people on the ground able & willing to push back against them. If that sort of pushback is what these NAR people are for then they can't be all bad.

You want evidence of demonic possession of entire regions? How about California going from a place known as practically paradise on earth, an economic juggernaut whose natural beauty also helped attract so many people to move in with their families and the home of presidents like Nixon & Reagan, to a hellscape 'boasting' of hosting the epicenters of rich pedofaggots slaving away to corrupt everything and everyone else nation- and arguably worldwide (the Castro, SF and Hollywood, LA) and which is now literally on fire due to decades of corruption, imbecilic shitlib policies and misrule. It's practically the state equivalent of observing the signs of demonic possession appear on the possessed's face and ruin their life over time. The reigning demonic powers there have already rigged the state's politics such that even if the people there wanted to vote them out, it's functionally impossible to do so and even if they managed it somehow, the corrupted courts will just find reasons to invalidate their decision like they did Propositions 187 and 8.

A decade+ ago I too fancied myself a fedora-tipping skeptic who had the world figured out & was too clever to ever fall for Bronze Age superstitions, but it's only been getting harder to keep out the 'those religious fanatics were right about everything' intrusive thoughts with every year since about 2016 or so, bros. Now it's pretty much impossible.
I watched YouTube videos of prophets broadcasting from their basements. I watched a streaming show called FlashPoint, where apostles and prophets deliver news from God; guests have included Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, because another dimension of the NAR is that the movement is a prominent advocate of Christian Zionism.
The music pounded, and people cheered, and after that, a prominent prophet named Joseph Garlington delivered a sermon. He was a guest speaker, and he offered what sounded like the first hint of dissent I’d heard in a long time. He talked about undocumented immigrants and asked people to consider whether it might be possible that God was sending them to the U.S. so they could build the Kingdom.
“What if they are part of the harvest?” he said. “He didn’t send us to them; maybe he’s sending them to us.”
Goddammit Stephanie McCrummen, you write a long article trying to hype these NAR guys up as this insanely scary theocratic cabal out to subvert constitutional government in favor of turning America into John Calvin's Geneva writ large with Drumpf as their puppet, but then drop runny shits like these? Seems the Apostolic Charismatic Dominionists or whatever you're trying to call these people are not nearly as based as you would have us believe.

I think you need to stop viewing this current pendulum swing as a "free speech" thing. It's just a movement of what's acceptable to say and laugh at. Don't think the people in power are interested in free speech - just giving people enough to not have them riot against them.

I'm not even hopeful that the Rightoids will have learnt from the Left's mistake - ie do not open doors or set precedents that can be used against you.

And ArsTechnica is losing their minds. Only a few people in a vast sea of libtards would even try a reasonable take.
