Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

I'm starting to wonder if some people who I thought were higher IQ are legit retarded because they think "I only see stuff on teevee about the celebs, therefore it is only the celebs who got hurted durrrr."

Any city is run by people from all walks of life by definition. Sure the K-Hive influencer got her house burned down, but the little shoe repair shop Korean who has lived there for 45 years and who you would undoubtedly find to be "based" got singed too. It's a natural disaster, not an actual laser selectively blasting specific people who "deserve" and "voted for" whatever.
Here's hoping that the Korean now has the insurance money to move to a proper city and start again.

It's human instinct. They read thr news and watch the TV about the California Tribe, but chances are they never actually met one. So they demonize them. This is not a uncommon occurrence throughout history.

Thing is, I have met some just because of where I live. Californians are weird. That's a fact. They do things that should be obvious no's to everyone, but they don't see the brick wall. They are still American. And they genuinely are baffled at why people hate them. Most of California is beautiful. It just has a horrible government. But every day is the same in Cali, so they vote the same. This is not a hard concept to understand.

How must he be feeling about all this.

California officials warn against price gouging, looting and scamming amid Los Angeles wildfires

California Attorney General Rob Bonta warned if people engage in price gauging, looting, and scamming amid the ongoing response to the wildfires ablaze in Los Angeles, they are breaking the law and they will be held accountable.

He warned victims of the fire at a press conference Saturday about bad actors who seek to use the trauma and the chaos created by the fires for their gain.

"We've seen businesses and landlords … jack up the price," he said at a press conference Saturday. "It's called price gouging. It is illegal. You cannot do it. It is a crime punishable by up to a year in jail and fines."

Prices should only be going up 10% or less from before the fire, Bonta said.

"This is California law [and] it's in place to protect those suffering from a tragedy," he said.

The California Attorney General's office issued a consumer alert about price gauging earlier in the week. Officials said they've seen price gauging, particularly in the rental market.

"If you know someone who's been a victim of price gauging please report it," Bonta said.

Bonta said he is working with Gov. Gavin Newsome on addressing price gauging specifically.

"Some of our hotels and some of our landlords use algorithms based on demand and supply to set their prices. If those prices lead to prices higher than before the emergency by 10% that's against the law," Bonta said. "If you're a mom and pop and you're not aware of these laws now you are aware. Ignorance is not an excuse."

Bonta also addressed scams, including people who create fake organizations masquerading as legitimate aid providers, particularly those targeting the elderly and the immigrant population.

He specifically called out "The American Red Cross of California," an organization that sounds legitimate but is not, he said.

Scams come in many forms, including by text, phone calls, emails, and social media, Bonta said and listed the scams to look out for below:
  1. Contractor scam where bad actors pressure victims to put down a deposit fee to hold their spot
  2. Insurance adjusters
  3. A government official or relief organization
  4. Fire Restoration
He gave the following ways to protect yourself:
  1. Verify credentials
  2. Check licenses
  3. Be skeptical of demands for upfront payment
  4. Confirm authenticity through official channels
  5. Monitor your bank accounts/ report fraud
During the press conference, Bonta also addressed reports of looting in evacuated homes and businesses.

"Looting is wrong. Looting is unlawful," he said. "Don't do it. It's illegal. And it's dangerous."

Los Angeles city officials have implemented a curfew to curb attempts of looting. At least 20 people have been arrested, officials in California have said.

So all hysteria and dooming aside, what are the actual odds this turns into a worst case scenario and you end up with a couple million people trapped by a ring of fire? Any actual expertfags here? All the news just cares about clicks right now so its hard to get the real score on what the prognosis is.

I'm curious as to how you could stay in California for that long despite the decades long deterioration. Sunk Cost Fallacy is a bitch, and California is a lost cause.
Same way anyone stays anywhere. You bought a house and got married and had kids. You worked hard to establish a small business. It's small- it relies on being known and trusted by a handful of people from your immediate neighborhood, not expensive marketing campaigns, websites, or franchising agreements. You pay your bills. You raise your kids. You get by. You make memories in your home and in your community. Your wife and your kids have friends and connections in the neighborhood. You belong to a church and when your wife gets cancer, they come over and help you take care of her. Your kids move out but they always come back at Christmas and other holidays to visit. You play with the grandkids in the same yard where you played with your kids.

That is where most people live. Whether they are in California, Iowa, Florida, whatever. They don't live on an electoral map or a policy debate. They live in those moments. And asking them to just say "fuck all that shit, it makes more sense to Online Based Guy 991201938 for me to live in Basedville, Indiana" and throw it all away is and always has been both insane and unrealistic.

And again- when he's gone, and his shoe shop has a vacancy sign in the window, Larry Fink is buying and investors are moving in. They won't give you a good deal on a shoe repair job and also put a sign for your restaurant or art show or little league fundraiser up in the window.

Dont worry guys, the REAL heroes have arrvied
FDNY apparently wasn't diverse enough for LA.

Fire has reached Brentwood according to media live stream.
Fire confirmed to have been started by the real OJ killer to keep the case from being blown wide open.

Pretty much bullshit, it's not like a literal continuous ring of fire and the major highways are still open. Small fires are popping up all the time from the bigger ones blowing embers all over the place, most of them haven't been able to develop into giant 1000+ acre fires.

I don't want to sound like Captain Obvious™ but this Mexican firefighter thing sounds like an excuse to boost up his ratings for the 2028 elections.
>Rejects help from American fire departments across the country
>Brings in migrant fire fighters
>"Look guys, we need immigrants in this country. Btw I'm totally helping
And also why is it that everytime I see Newsom. I want to see someone take off those stupid sunglasses and stomp them into tiny pieces.

Eh, that's not true for everyone. Moving can be really easy, and if you're business owner, you have the money to do that. I don't see how people keeping their family in a place that's deteriorating and dying off is a responsible thing to do. If you want a better life, you have to pursue it and take that risk. Staying in a single place to stagnate, and die, isn't going to help you or your family's future.

Setting aside the fact that most gravedancing has nothing to do with "divine justice" at all and that framing is just advanced cope- it's just a weakminded person's cope for feeling powerless in the face of overwhelmingly frightening phenomena. "THOSE idiots should have voooted harder because I totally voote right and I would NEVER EVER EVER burn to death helplessly while attempting, in futility, to save my loved ones from a similar horrific fate, due to being betrayed by the leaders who were supposed to responsibly steward the resources I am forced to pay them to steward."
No one is gravedancing. We are simply pointing our that this fire is a direct result of the consequences of their actions-or rather, inaction-of the very people in a position to demand and ensure the government take the proper steps to protect them and their fellow citizens. Instead they just "do their own thing" and indulge in their degenerate acts of choice. Now they are very publically crying, wailing and tearing out their hair on live TV, X, and Instagram and even setting up GFMs, which is the absolutely most brazen and crass thing these multimillionaires with several homes could do-and anyone with a home on the beach is a millionaire, even if they bought a bazillion years ago. Pointing this out is not gravedancing, it's merely calling it out.
"People who live in wrong color area on map deserve to die in a fire" is tumblr faggot thinking. People who think that way have no real strength of character or conviction. They are weak people who are allowing the corruption to continue because actually standing up and fighting it is too scary for them to contemplate.
It looks to me you're triggered that others feel differently than you about the deviants promoting sodomy, "gender affirming care", bug chasing and the sexual exploitation of men, women and children getting exactly what the Good Book says they'll get. Don't get offended but I think Reddit would be more to your liking.

Before you go on about the "hundreds of thousands" again I want to remind you that the vast majority there are fine with California's promotion of degeneracy because the local and state government makes a point of telling everyone all day, every day that not only is it right and good, they will help you financially and the state will back you up with all its power if you demand your child go on puberty blockers and have their penis or breasts chopped off-they even broadcast a cable show about a boy who was drugged and mutilated for several years.

What is wrong with people there? Why weren't they protesting? Why didn't they demand the government intervene? Were they were too busy "doing their own thing" and saying "don't judge"? Was it too hard? Might they be inconvenienced? Did they think it couldn't happen to them? Did they value the material more than their children, their family, their very soul? If so then no sympathy is warranted.

Even semi-intelligent people understand a disaster can happen at anytime, and most plan accordingly. No one expects the government to help anymore but rely on family, friends and churches, the very social structures LA faggots love to mock. We are done being admonished by people who hate us. Here's a verse they should have remembered: Hosea 8:7-For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.

People who have raised a family to maturity while running a successful small business don't typically feel they are "stagnating" just because some online clown thinks their city- which again, people aren't interacting with The City most of the time, but the neighborhood, which is usually more like its own kind of small town- isn't based enough.

Your retarded logic could just as easily be run in the other direction. All those loser hillbillies in Appalachia should get up off their asses and move to the big city and learn how to code and make dildoes already. Coalmining is over, bitches, stop stagnating and adapt!

I'm trying to find good studios but it's a losing battle. I want the square enix office to come out ok but that's about it.

Everybody else is gay as shit or EA
Have you seen the latest CS policies Square Enix just came out with this week? They are so horifically Bad that their best customers want them set on fire.

My nigga, having a business automatically makes moving harder because it puts your business at a disadvantage. You are taking your business to new customers who have never heard of you on top of the costs of moving and legal bullshit involved, and you are in competition with businesses who are already known there. It's not that easy.
