This would be so healing for us as a nation. Just regular people singing into their cameras over a montage of celebrity homes burned to a crisp singing Imagine, the way they did during the lockdowns. I truly hope this happens. You know what? I think we need to be serious about the tragedy that these celebrities are facing right now. We need to help these people, just as they helped us during trying times. Everyone, get out a webcam and start singing a shitty rendition of "Imagine".
There’s a program for incarcerated women to work as firefighters. In the past, I had the opportunity to speak to a woman who had participated in the program who had been convicted of vehicular manslaughter as a drunk driver. She spoke very highly of the program and how it gave her the opportunity to work hard to help others. She never once spoke about the low pay and I got the sense that any financial compensation was secondary to the main benefit: atonement.I've never seen anyone ask the actual prisoners how they feel about these programs. It's always just the normal slap fights about Commie shit, like wages and how they hate prisons in general.
I know they're criminal scum and this is California, but these are the lowest security risk and most well behaved prisoners, along with this program being a way to rehabilitate that people always bitch about
If you think all us rural hicks unlucky enough to be born in California are so short-sighted and sensitive that mean words on the internet could cause us to fundamentally change our entire worldview, then you don’t know anything about us. We know everyone hates our state. We hate the things about it that everyone else hates: corruption, woke bullshit, rich celebrities, hypocritical environmentalists, all that.Keep an eye on Nevada and rural California. You're not getting those areas back.
The non-insane people left in California that refuse to leave are the ones most firmly grasping their ideals. Otherwise we would have abandoned our home long ago.
California is so, so corrupt and the only way federal aid will do ANYTHING is if it comes with ironclad strings and people to follow up and watch every dollar travel to its intended destination.Giving out money carte blanche means that most of the money will disappear and never go to rebuilding efforts.
Yeah that’s the rub. As long as it’s meant as a rehabilitation program and not a modern-day chain gang from which you are never released, it’s a positive thing. Once you factor in jeets like Harris, it becomes more fraught. If I was a jailbird shittum, I'd jump at the chance to do my time hiking out in nature, and doing hard and noble work, rather than being locked up in a cage at the pen with Fleece Johnson and The Tossed Salad Man.
Inmate firefighters seems like a win-win situation until you factor in scumbag DAs like Kamala Harris that will intentionally keep you locked up because the bureaucrats love your slave labor.
