Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

You know what? I think we need to be serious about the tragedy that these celebrities are facing right now. We need to help these people, just as they helped us during trying times. Everyone, get out a webcam and start singing a shitty rendition of "Imagine".
This would be so healing for us as a nation. Just regular people singing into their cameras over a montage of celebrity homes burned to a crisp singing Imagine, the way they did during the lockdowns. I truly hope this happens.
I've never seen anyone ask the actual prisoners how they feel about these programs. It's always just the normal slap fights about Commie shit, like wages and how they hate prisons in general.

I know they're criminal scum and this is California, but these are the lowest security risk and most well behaved prisoners, along with this program being a way to rehabilitate that people always bitch about
There’s a program for incarcerated women to work as firefighters. In the past, I had the opportunity to speak to a woman who had participated in the program who had been convicted of vehicular manslaughter as a drunk driver. She spoke very highly of the program and how it gave her the opportunity to work hard to help others. She never once spoke about the low pay and I got the sense that any financial compensation was secondary to the main benefit: atonement.
Keep an eye on Nevada and rural California. You're not getting those areas back.
If you think all us rural hicks unlucky enough to be born in California are so short-sighted and sensitive that mean words on the internet could cause us to fundamentally change our entire worldview, then you don’t know anything about us. We know everyone hates our state. We hate the things about it that everyone else hates: corruption, woke bullshit, rich celebrities, hypocritical environmentalists, all that.

The non-insane people left in California that refuse to leave are the ones most firmly grasping their ideals. Otherwise we would have abandoned our home long ago.
Giving out money carte blanche means that most of the money will disappear and never go to rebuilding efforts.
California is so, so corrupt and the only way federal aid will do ANYTHING is if it comes with ironclad strings and people to follow up and watch every dollar travel to its intended destination.
If I was a jailbird shittum, I'd jump at the chance to do my time hiking out in nature, and doing hard and noble work, rather than being locked up in a cage at the pen with Fleece Johnson and The Tossed Salad Man.

Inmate firefighters seems like a win-win situation until you factor in scumbag DAs like Kamala Harris that will intentionally keep you locked up because the bureaucrats love your slave labor.
Yeah that’s the rub. As long as it’s meant as a rehabilitation program and not a modern-day chain gang from which you are never released, it’s a positive thing. Once you factor in jeets like Harris, it becomes more fraught.

What’s the deal with these constant promises of higher-speed winds that never materialize?
Weather forecasters are shit more than 3 days in the future, and are wrong 30% of the time describing weather conditions happening now.
They only get better when they change their title to 'Climate researcher' then they can accurately predict a 0.1 degree increase in global temperatures 10 years in the future.

aren't california fires like an annual thing, why weren't they all more prepared for this?
Simple. Classic LA retarded behaviour.

Also, I found a pretty good site to check on updates of each fire in one spot.
Eaton has been 37% contained, Palisades on 17%. Auto Fire hasn't been contained yet, but according to the report the FD should've at least curb the spread.

Greed beats prep, every time.

See - - Everyone wants to paint it as purely politics, but I'd bet what little money I have in my pocket ( and I am clearly against gambling, for personal reasons) that the politics of the person in charge, do not align with the person who owns the contracts. But what, does align? The amount of money they get to pocket by cutting corners and shifting funds to other departments. For example:

It's like how Northern Virigina is a caustic shithole with no real drainage, always a perpetual flood risk, everything is built on hill but zero prep. This year? 6 inches of snow completely fucking crippled the state. Previously, FOUR inches of snow completely crippled the state. This morning? Ice sheets all across the state.

No prep. Privatized Sanitation department that can't handle snow. But hey, your taxes are going...Somewhere. Maybe Israel. Maybe Ukraine. Maybe into Big Tony's Coke and Whore fund, who knows?

According to the Californians in the thread, it's all because of evil insurance, and electricity companies, absolutely not the fault of a government that can't handle basic forestry, or emergency response.
I don't think any of us have said that. In fact we have repeatedly stated that our government is inept, the forests are being mismanaged, and the emergency response is a disaster.

You didn't see the 'DEI had nothing to do with this' guy, or L.A. resident 'hey the insurance companies sent a letter to SoCalEd, it's their fault!' guy?

Yes, some of you have. Read the thread.

For a SERIOUS answer incase anyone cant read sarcasm or is as autistic as drip torch
-water reseviors were ENTIRELY empty as the fire happened, which pretty much entirely disables fightfighters
-due to this, even fire hydrants were bone dry, to the point homeless stole them
-this also meant they had to IMPORT water from OTHER PLACES to start fighting the fire
-resevior construction was voted on doing a WHILE ago, since voters wanted more, but the govt refused due to environmental concerns
-more water was wasted trying to save some stupid fucking endangered puddle fish
-many speculate DEI hired in the water management sector (head run by a woman) and fire department (3 lesbian heads) are a factor
-some fire equipment donated to ukraine because ukraine.
-fire insurance was dropped by almost all insurance contracts months before

basically the cali / la govt shit the bed harder than amber heard. But this is frankly even assuming they aren't ATTEMPTING to burn it down as a big plan.

In the minds of a Californian politicians, they did all that was necessary to prepare for wildfires.

They had lesbian firefighters, laws against misgendering, and billions of dollars spent on people who shit in the street.

They thought of everything. What more could they have possibly done?
