They seem to prefer mobility scooters, but anything that has a motor will do. Im actually leery of people in electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters in the bad parts of my city because they are mostly shady fucks using them. They steal scooters from porches, they steal them from each other or grifting charity organizations for used ones. They are like urban ATVs for drug addicts over 40.

There was a legless (below the knees) black guy in my downtown area that had developed an entire cottage industry giving rides to female drug addicts around town, even had a “downtown express” sign on his chair for awhile. Of course they had to sit in his lap to get the ride. Natch. He’d offer any woman walking down the street a ride, but only a certain type was prone to accepting his offer.

Hey, can't hate the hustle

I guarantee you that if Vicky ever found herself facing a disaster like the LA fires she would leap out of that chair like Grandpa Joe seeing a golden ticket and force her way past every actual disabled person in her path to safety.

She even looks like George.

Vicki credits that guide...the one about being a disabled person of color in a natural disaster...for her own survival. How? What?

Her buddy Jermaine who is always grifting says he needs $5k by Friday even though his own fundraiser says his landlord is giving him until April 1. Jermaine is one of the grifters on that list, I bet. He's legitimately wheelchair bound but his constant fundraising suggests he's using the money for something other than what he claims. He's always got some new reason to beg again.

Because she, a fat black crippled dyke, used the advice in that book to escape the LA fires.

How do I embed a YouTube video, I'm a retard.

I doubt she's even downloaded the PDF, much less read one page, but she's hoping a by signal boosting, and tagging this woman, she will get a signal boost in the woke disability grift world by kissing the ring of head grifters.

Seriously, that Justice Shorter person is just a loud, black, lesbian who saw the opportunity to grift off of woke BS. She couldn't even manage to get a black/gender studies degree. She's just realized thanks to academic "intersectionality" and white guilt she could milk free money by being the loud, black, gay token that seemed to be in demand at colleges and non-profits. She also isn't disabled in any way from what I can tell so she's appropriating disabled people's struggles for her own enrichment! However that's an easy problem for Justice to solve if needed. As Vicky, and the munchies gang have taught us, one merely needs to buy a wheelchair or walker, or just lie a lot, and you too can claim to be disabled.

I mean is someone really even disabled if they aren't photographing and documenting all their disabilities on IG and twitter?

I learn so much from the medKiwis
Ben Goldacre's bad pharma is a good intro to the pharma companies and their shady tactics, I'd also reccomend Empire Of Pain for an in depth look into the Sacklers and their Purdue pharma in relation to the modern opiod crisis

I love how the MSM are like hmm what's causing the confidence crisis in governments in the west? Is it the lond and well documented history of outrageous corruption? Nah must be social media and Russia

And prolonged use/abuse in high doses can cause delirium tremens when cut off. Seen this once, don’t wanna see it again - there was an angry moose in human form in the treatment room.
It’s almost the gold standard for nerve pain caused by SCI, ibuprofen, lidocaine patches, none of that helps extreme nerve pain from damage.
Opiates do but lol fuck no, have enough to deal with.

But obviously debilitating nerve pain vs an addictive drug with potential to be abused, you have to pick the lesser of two evils there

I wholeheartedly agree with the suggestion to read 'Bad pharma' and 'Empire of Pain'
They're both incredibly interesting and informative.

I skimmed through it, and it's almost completely worthless. (Shocking, I know.)

Much of it just waxes on about how disabled black queer people are oh-so-special and should be "centered" during disaster responses. Reparations get brought up as well, of course.

We're just so damned tired, y'all!

For a "guidebook", you'd expect there to be some kind of guide, right? Like step-by-step instructions on what to do during different types of emergencies? And there should probably be a list of organizations and services/resources that cater to disabled people during disasters?
Well... the best they can do is give basic advice and heavily self-promote the authors of this guide. 🙄 If someone ever tries to read this pdf for help during an actual emergency, good luck!

Being charitable, here's some of the better advice they give:
advice-1.png advice-2a.png advice-2b.png advice-3.png
The rest is stuff like this:
lol.png raise-awareness.png

Instead of a useful directory of services/resources/organizations, each section of the guide self-promotes that section's author. Couple examples:

justice.png

Speaking of Tinu (Victoria's dead friend), her section is about #MutualAid. It basically boils down to "Get involved in mutual aid. Don't be ashamed to ask for help, and you should probably ask for more than you think you need. Also, keep records and do your taxes, because it sucks to get audited."
That last bit made me wonder if Victoria even does her taxes, lol.

Anyway, please enjoy some of the art/photos from the guidebook:

Unrelated, but NYU's Spring 2025 semester starts in one week - on January 21st. 🤔
And... I remember a couple weeks ago that Victoria said she was going to be moving out of her apartment sometime this month. (She also said she was going to get back on the #mutualaid train and make a proper begging thread to fund the move, which she still hasn't done yet...) 🤔
I think we're in for some drama.
Bets on a "drop out of school, move back in with dad" saga?

This "guidebook" is the most unhelpful shit I've ever seen.
I'm Swedish and our department for society protection and catastrophic aid has just sent out a booklet with tips for households and what people should think of having at home and such, it's a very thin booklet but it's worth its weight in gold compared to this verbose bullshit that can't even make a list of things that are good to have at home at all times in preparation for an emergency.
A list that should contain stuff like having several powerbanks, and if you have a motorised wheelchair you need a small portable power station, you should have several litres/gallons of water, matches, dry/canned food, wet wipes, a camping stove, and all the other practical stuff that one would need if you are either stuck in your home or have to evacuate.
But do these shitheads write such lists. No, they are whinging about reparations and random bullshit that tells people nothing whatsoever what they can do in an emergency or how they can be prepared for one.

Gimme all the tophats bc I'm so mati at people who think they are the leaders of their communities but can't think up any practical way to aid their community, just words words words to make themselves feel special for being such enlightened advocates.

I'm off touching grass/snow and getting some cuddles with the dogs.

Simply amazing. This "guide" goes on and on about "your people", as if everyone lives in communities of people of their own ethnicity only. I have many questions, like what if I live in a very diverse area, am I allowed to help and be helped by my neighbors? What if they are white people, should I help them or should I let them die because they are not oppressed and marginalized?

Seriously, I think community based on ethnicity and/or race is not a necessarily bad thing in general, but it has its time and place. An actual natural disaster is not the time nor the place, I feel. It's more about how to save as many people as possible, regardless of ethnicity, race, sex/gender, or any other type of identity. We are all humans, aren't we? (I mean, of course every person will try to save their loved one first, but in general).

Anyway, it is more about dealing with the aftermath of a natural disaster if anything, although in reality it is clearly a guide to how to become an activist. Which is just so damned tiring. Not every person should be an activist, okay? Leave people alone.

For example:
1736869133859.png

As we help each other, trusting bonds are built. This trust is then channeled into other larger collective efforts outside of mutual aid. For example, policy campaigns, voting blocks, protesting police brutality against disabled bodies of color etc. This level of organizing starts with an initial willingness to embrace new people, engage in new ideas and embark on new collective actions that help us save ourselves and each other. Mutual aid can say, “I see you.” “I acknowledge you.” “I believe you.” “I support you.”
First of all, "disabled bodies of color" - nice phrasing. Not at all dehumanizing.

To the point, protesting police brutality is not very relevant for surviving a natural disaster, but it is for an activist. Or at least activists of certain kind.

Also, I kinda have to comment on this shit:

- A world where love looks accessible and available to us in all of its forms without having to constantly negotiate that process.
What does that mean? I know this is not the meaning, but the first thing that crossed my mind is that it's sounds like an incel who thinks having sex with some hot woman is his right and he shouldn't have to do anything to get that ("negotiate that process), lol.

- A time where we can live in a way that doesn’t deprive other people of their right to exist in the world.
None of you is deprived of the right to exist in the world. Bugger off.

- A future where we can enjoy life, go on vacations, actually experience and live in the world while having a surplus of support.
- A future that is post-capitalistic.
You do know someone has to work so you could have the money to do all of this, right? The money doesn't just fall from the sky, you know? What does post-capitalistic future means by you?

- A future where we have love that doesn’t require us to defend our identities and values.
Genuinely fuck off with this meaningless drivel.

- A future full of basic and bountiful access.
Access to what??

This pisses me off.

"Disabled" is such a huge and heterogenous category, I don't see how there can even be advice that applies to all disabilities in case of disaster preparedness. Surely someone who is blind has challenges that are not at all the same as someone who is, idk, diabetic or is in a wheelchair. Lmao now I am picturing information pamphlets specifically for the blind, that are identical to the regular ones except "flashlight" is not on the list of useful equipment.

"How to prepare for emergencies with....long covid/POTS/autism/general retardedness. I could make this my side hustle.
