Canada is a failed state

I often wonder how politicians who have a cognitive ability similar to that of a 5 year old keep getting into office. My theory suggests people keep falling for their false promises and there is no system in place to stop them from doing and saying things that contradict their points and ensure they'll do the things they promised to do.

Liberal & Conservative establishment unite to keep Mad Max out of the televised debates (again).
The People's Party of Canada - Press Release

Ottawa, ON, January 15, 2025 — The Leaders’ Debates Commission has once again changed its criteria so they can easily exclude the leader of the People’s Party on the basis of dubious polls, as they did in 2021.
In 2021, parties needed to meet one of three criteria to qualify: 1) have at least one MP; 2) have had at least 4% of the total vote in the previous election; or 3) have at least 4% on average in polls at the beginning of the campaign.
The PPC did not meet 1) and 2), and its leader was disqualified on 3) by using dubious polling results in which the PPC barely registered, which gave the party an average of only 3.27%, even though its support was clearly much higher and it ended up scoring 4.9% on election day.
Mr. Bernier would automatically qualify to take part in this year’s debates on the basis of criterion 2) if the Commission had kept the same criteria.
However, yesterday, the Commission announced a key change, dropping that criterion and requiring that parties must now meet not one, but two of these three criteria: 1) have at least one MP; 2) have at least 4% on average in the polls at the beginning of the campaign; or 3) run candidates in at least 90% of ridings.
Moreover, the Commission states in its document that when consulting the parties about the new rules last year, “The Commission received submissions from the Bloc Quebecois, the Conservative Party of Canada, the Green Party of Canada, the Liberal Party of Canada, and the New Democratic Party of Canada.”
This is not true. A PPC staffer sent a submission to Michel Cormier, the Commission’s Executive Director, on July 3 2024, two days before the deadline, in which it was argued that the Commission should keep the same criteria as in 2021. Not only is the Commission trying to exclude Mr. Bernier from the debates, but it seems like it did not take the PPC submission into account. The PPC is still awaiting an explanation from the Commission as of Wednesday 1:00 pm.

Maxime Bernier commented:
“This change only has one obvious purpose, one that unites the whole political establishment in Ottawa: Making it easier to exclude the PPC. These new rules only affect me, the leader of the only new party to emerge forcefully on the federal political scene in decades, and none of the other leaders expected to participate. They want to deny a voice to 840,000 Canadian voters who supported the PPC in 2021.
It’s still possible for the PPC to qualify of course, but we are again at the mercy of dubious polls, some of which we know deliberately exclude the PPC from the list of potential responses, which inevitably understates our level of support.
Instead of using the hard data that are the results of the last election, which prove without doubt that the PPC is one of the major parties whose voice is essential in Canadian policy debates, and, the Commission has chosen to rely on fleeting data that can easily be manipulated and will be obsolete a few weeks later.
Why does the Commission need to change its criteria every electoral cycle? Isn’t it weird that a Commission is kept alive, and public funds are spent to carry consultations with experts and parties, only to come up every few years with new rules that make the participation of the PPC more difficult? Does it exist to facilitate democratic debates or to censor a populist voice?”

well you need a minimum of $300K to even run for the Liberal Party leadership. Likely a similar number for running for a seat as an MP or MPP. (let's say $100K). How many Canadians have access to those funds in liquid funds? 1% or less.

nepotism, financial greed, anbd a narccistic disorder strong enough top push through all the systems that discourage normal people from getting involved in politics.

Who? Which party is he running as?

I’m of the opinion that there’s got to be something in the tap water in Ottawa, and it just makes everyone in Parliament retarded.

Liberal of course. He’s been an economic advisor for Trudeau since 2020, pushed carbon taxes for over a decade, and runs climate slush fund scams.

But he’s “an outsider” and would totally cancel the consumer-facing carbon tax guys.

Also his French is terrible, he’s going nowhere in Quebec.

He’s an “Edmonton boy” coming home, proceeds to shit on Danielle Smith.

This is exactly what I thought lol.

Edit: Pierre is actually a lot more polished and experienced in retail politics, and he will wipe the floor with this low energy mope.

Carney is used to being a power broker amongst power brokers, he has little experience connecting with actual voters, and this is his first attempt at retail politics. Unlikeable lizard.

Trudeau's former secretary, Gerald Butts, who resigned in disgrace affair the SNC-Lavalin Affair is part of Carney's team. I've heard that his chief of staff, Katie Telford, is also making overtures. This will be a continuation of Trudeau's premiership and the only ones excited about this are the TruAnons who are frothing mad that Crysta Freeland threw him under the bus before he could do the same to her.

"That's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see how that works for them."

Funny thing is that Randy Boissonault (one of them, anyway) is the only Liberal MP in Edmonton and he's declared his support for Freeland and his intention to run for reelection. Of course, assuming the party coronates Carney as their new leader, he could probably block Randy and parachute in. I see it as futile because Carney has the personality and charisma of a damp towel. Trudeau has the experience as a drama teacher to fake it, but people see past the facade right now and Carney lacks any ability to comprehend what the rabble experience. He's so low-energy that he makes Jeb Bush look like a dynamo.

well that's baffling. Polls already show that the liberals would lose BAD in an election. It's like they think Canada works like an old Civilisation game and if they induce a buffer overflow by going below zero they can pull some sort of Nuclear Gandhi glitch and get 100% of the votes.

To be fair anyone removing the Rebel News Jew loving reporters from events is based. Fuck Rabbi Media.

I assume the Menzoid (David Menzies) was one of the 3 reporters removed?

Proud to say that I got Gerald Butts to block me on LinkedIn.

Optimistic but hopefully Freeland learned some lessons from her Based Grandfather and she doubles down on being Anti-Israel / Pro Palestine.

Mark Carney has been the central banker for both Canada and Great Britain. He’s a climate nutbar, with 3 passports (a citizen of Canada, UK and Ireland).

He’s extolled the brilliance of Greta Thunberg, and explained many times how we’re just going to coerce people into consuming less via carbon taxes (which should be way way higher), and outright shutting down fossil fuel production.

Even for Edmonton-Strathcona, that’s a bit much. They’ve got a Randy in there now- he’s stupid and corrupt, but in a local-boy way, which is more palatable (although I doubt they will keep the seat).

It’s just not a good cycle for the Liberal brand of lizard people.

Another question because 90% of the Canadian population don't speak English or French and 130% of Canadians speak poo poo and other Indian tribe languages. Does this mean (besides Inuktitut, Cree or Blackfoot) that Canada has to be a polyglot country and heads of states must know and speak a bunch of shitty languages to function as head of state?
