Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

Isn't cortisol the hormone your body releases when under stress? So, they're stressing? You and everyone else, hon, we live in A Society after all.

And lol I must have missed the PCOS trend. Oh no, I miss my period a lot and have too much abdominal fat, big whoop. Just gotta take my inositol and not be a fatass, easy.

“Cortisol imbalance” sounds fancier than “I am on stimulants for adult-diagnosed ADHD, I drink aggressive amounts of caffeine to stay a skinny legend, and I had generalized anxiety disorder BEFORE adding all the uppers. My heart rate is faster than a hummingbird’s wings but look at how my clavicle pops in my fridge restock reel!”

My guess would have been that it’s shorthand for “I have a raging personality disorder and no emotional regulation skills so this is my excuse for disproportionally losing my shit in the face of ordinary, daily stressors; and therefore also my excuse for dropping out of adult life in order to avoid said ordinary stressors.”

Allanah Harris was arrested this morning.

Reminder for those not following, she was a mummy blogger with a sick child. Supposedly had brain cancer and/or tuberous sclerosis complex. Had a GoFund me at one stage for 60k. Turned out she was giving the kid medication to make fake symptoms. Medical staff didn't think something added up so did their duty as mandatory reporters.

Queensland Police Service Statement

Morningside Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) have charged a woman with torture following extensive investigations into allegations of an infant being poisoned.

It will be alleged between August 6 to October 15, 2024, a 34-year-old Sunshine Coast woman administered several unauthorised prescription and pharmacy medicines to a one-year-old girl, who was known to her, without medical approval.

It will be further alleged the woman, disregarding medical advice, went to lengths to obtain unauthorised medicines, including old medicines for a different person available in their home.

Later investigations are alleged to have uncovered the woman carefully concealed her continued efforts to administer the unauthorised medicines until the matter was detected and reported to police by medical staff from a hospital in Brisbane’s south while the child was admitted.

While the child was being subject to immense distress and pain, it is alleged the woman filmed and posted videos of the child.

It is alleged the content produced exploited the child and was used to entice monetary donations and online followers.

On October 15, 2024, medical staff reported harm against the child to detectives.

Police took immediate action to protect the child while an investigation commenced.

It will be alleged the testing for unauthorised medicines returned a positive result on January 7.

This morning, January 16, Morningside CPIU detectives travelled to an Underwood address to arrest the woman and subsequently charged her with five counts of administering poison with intent to harm, three counts of preparation to commit crimes with dangerous things, and one count each of torture, making child exploitation material and fraud.

She is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, January 17.

Detective Inspector Paul Dalton said offences of this nature are abhorrent and CPIU detectives are committed to protecting children from harm and holding offenders to account.

“Working in CPIU we are too often faced with the worst offences against children,” he said.

“We will do everything in our power to remove that child from harm’s way and hold any offender to account.

“There is no excuse for harming a child, especially not a one-year-old infant who is reliant on others for care and survival.”

An Australian social media influencer has been charged by police after she allegedly drugged her own one-year-old child in a bid to gain online followers.

Queensland Police allege the 34-year-old Sunshine Coast woman administered several “unauthorised” prescription medications to the child while posting about their medical journey online.

In footage from her arrest, the woman is seen sitting on a porch in pink and white pyjama shorts, next to a large, bright pink, Stanley drinking cup.

A GoFundMe was also set up for the child’s medical bills with police arresting the woman in Underwood in Brisbane’s south on Thursday morning.

In a statement, police said she was charged after testing for unauthorised medicines returned a positive result on January 7.

“It will be further alleged the woman, disregarding medical advice, went to lengths to obtain unauthorised medicines, including old medicines for a different person available in their home,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“While the child was being subject to immense distress and pain, it is alleged the woman filmed and posted videos of the child.

“It is alleged the content produced exploited the child and was used to entice monetary donations and online followers.”

The family cannot be named for legal reasons.

Detectives claim the woman worked “carefully” to conceal her actions before they were allegedly detected and reported by hospital staff in October. The child was taken into immediate care.

She has been charged with five counts of administering poison with intent to harm, three counts of preparation to commit crimes with dangerous things, and one count each of torture, making child exploitation material and fraud. She will appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 17.

Detective Inspector Paul Dalton labelled the alleged offences as abhorrent.

“Working in CPIU we are too often faced with the worst offences against children,” he said.

“We will do everything in our power to remove that child from harm’s way and hold any offender to account.

“There is no excuse for harming a child, especially not a one-year-old infant who is reliant on others for care and survival.”

If the woman is found guilty, the alleged offending would be Australia’s first high-profile Munchausen by proxy case.

In a statement, GoFundMe said the fundraiser for the family was shut down in October after the allegations came to light.

“Our Trust and Safety specialists are aware of the accusations and will investigate as part of our standard due diligence process,” a statement from the company said.

“GoFundMe has a zero-tolerance policy for misuse of our platform and cooperates with police investigations.”

I can't figure out how to get the embedded videos from the News.com and ABC websites but they even released part of her arrest.

Allanah Harris was arrested this morning.
Apologies for double post.

Bodycam video of arrest attached for those who don't/can't view offsite. Hard to pull the video from the site so had to screen record.

No news article will name her, to protect the child, but everyone knows its Allanah Harris / The Harris Family.

Just something weird I've noticed; more and more lifestyle girlies say they have "cortisol imbalance".
Did the new fake, girlie illness patch just drop?

I feel like I've mostly seen this in the same pesudoscientific way people talk about dopamine and serotonin, where there's some truth to it but it's been passed through so many games of telephone to sell essential oils it loses all meaning.
Yes this is a good summary of it. Excess cortisol can be from something medical (Cushings is certainly real!) or to a lesser degree from chronic stress. Chronic stress can cause multiple physical problems, and it does seem to be associated with putting weight on around the trunk. You arent going to fix cushings or five years of chronic stress damage with a salad or some essential oils.
Massive stress over years kills people and ruins health, that’s certainly true, and you can find excess cortisol in people under any kind of stres, it’s part of the response. This is, like you say, the TikTok version of it with some products to buy.
Gut health is also a thing, and probably quite important, but again the rubbish spouted on TikTok isn’t something to follow and there’s a massive industry of snake oil around it.

PCOS trend girlies never have the "uncool" symptoms. No 3am ER visits because of a burst cyst or posts about fighting insurance to cover laser hair removal on your face. They never talk about menorrhagia or skin tags.

It's all excuses.

Oh, munchie girls love a good "muh ovarian cyst, gib opioids" situation type deal.

You can have a pregnancy test and Toradol, queen.

Yes. They never talk about the incessant sugar cravings when you become prediabetic, how they’ve gone through multiple rounds of laser and the hair won’t die, how you’re starting to have male pattern baldness. How you have to cancel plans because a cyst burst after sex. It’s always the fun “I’m just a widdle sicky girl” stuff.

Rose has passed away according to her TikTok account. The picture seems extra infantilizing, which is exactly what she would have wanted. RIP

Maybe it’s a fake page. Or a fake death.
I'm going for fake death, for reasons I have outlined previously.

She CLAIMED she was removing her trach and choosing to die in hospice weeks ago. It would be extremely convenient if she did die of septic pneumonia for real weeks later, but I don't buy it.

I know obituaries aren't mandatory, but can one fake an obit, or are there too many barriers in paperwork or whatever?

I'd trust an obituary more than a social media post for cases like this, but I don't know if that trust is misplaced.

My friend had an obituary published for her bunny when we were kids so not sure if they're very trustworthy.

Rest in piss, you despicable piece of shit.

And if it comes out that this is a hoax she's a hundred times worse than I thought she was.

If she does have a humiliation fetish nothing would be more rewarding than getting dragged all over the entire universe for faking her own death.
I'm picturing someone hiding in the bushes at the graveyard with a pair of binoculars, masturbating furiously whenever someone drops trou and pees on their grave.
