Yes, on a phone. However mines also set to the Mexico Apple Store using PayPal as billing method [loophole] and iTunes gift cards from Mexico. [because apple sucks and won’t let me charge up with an off the shelf US gift card from 7-eleven or kwik trip but they’ll let me buy them on apple.com] They do not validate addresses whatsoever in MX.

I originally did this because of the USA VK ban, and at the time Spotify premium was only $4 a month if your phone was on the MX App Store. (Spotify is up to $6.20 or so a month, it’s still cheaper than 11.99 . And a bunch of other shit like Rosetta Stone and Grindr are still half priced so I’m not changing it back.)

Some apps aren’t in the MX store and there’s some hassles involved in it, but it comes in handy every so often when something fucking stupid like this happens. VK was the first time. TikTok is strike #2, I’ll probably leave my phone region in Mexico because it seems like the US government is going to keep doing stuff like this.

There’s no magic involved in using Mexico, other than , they’re a little more liberal on speech and other connundrums than Europe. they just stay completely out of the fray with these issues. whereas Europe behaves as badly as the USA.

It’s NOT something I would have done for TikTok, but if you’re addicted to that app, or use it to track cows here you go. To all others, may your withdrawal be long and excruciating.

Both apps and other bytedance apps are gone from the Apple App Store and Google play store reportedly.

That “red note” app is working fine.

I only downloaded all of these because the apps are getting banned over not silencing criticism of israel.

The jew fears the whiteguiltless chink.

lol it's a stunt to win Gen Z votes, the CEO of Tiktok/Bytedance is going to be at Trump's inauguration.

He's gonna EO the effects of a problem that he started back in 2019 and have Bytedance join the cavalcade of other multibillionaires he has in his pocket with Musk, Zuckerberg and Bezos.

Using just normie tier (non-residential VPN) NordVPN exits in canada and china both still had the message come up in tiktok for me just now.

Videos start to play then it pauses.

My settings don’t have any GPS or local network access for tiktok so I am pretty sure it’s doing it based on either device region settings or language settings or similar.

Ok it seems that even for android users that have set their VPN location to Singapore and uninstalled and reinstalled the apk it kind of works but all US accounts have been disabled. So a new account would be necessary.

Besides sideloading iOS users might be screwed if they can’t “log out” since you can’t uninstall and reinstall the app if it’s gone from the App Store.

Offloading keeps data on iOS and might be all risk and no reward.
