Question: how do executive orders work? I thought Congress has to approve legislation.
EOs are how the President exercises his Constitutional and statutory authority to manage the operations of the Executive Branch. The vesting clause places all "executive power" in the office of the President, which basically means he's the boss of Federal employees. Laws passed by Congress always require some interpretation, and the President can use EOs to determine how they are interpreted within the Executive Branch. Sometimes an EO must be codified as a Federal regulation through the laborious, time-consuming rulemaking process, then made into policy by each affected agency, and then the policy turned into instructions for the workers, and of course resources must be found carry out the order; in this manner, it is possible to delay the effect of an order for years, or until it goes away.

There are always checks and balances. If an EO is wildly out of line, Congress can pass another law to clarify the first one, or defund whatever the President is trying to do, or the courts can enjoin the EO.

Watching Aldean on now. It must suck to not be able to motivate a crowd because they're waiting on a fucking politician.

Speaking of which, what a W for him to be able to perform after his attempted cancellation a year or two ago. Not to mention Carrie Underwood at the ceremony. The whole day has been such a W for actual talented, patriotic musical artists. One of the greatest shifts in the past 4 years has been the complete death of the Democrat grip on the entertainment industry.

And in the alternative, we have the 2nd amendment with "shall not be infringed" and yet I can't own a nuke. It's pretty well established that there can be limits to enumerated rights that do not have to be listed out individually at the time of their creation.
Hey, just because you can't own a nuke doesn't mean that the law is constitutional.

I know it's been said but fuuuuuuck is Reddit losing it's mind over the Elon things

No exaggeration here, the ENTIRE FRONT PAGE of r/all is just that one picture of Musk doing the thing. They are going absolutely APESHIT over it. The frothing at the mouth is incredible. This weird ass wave is what sets them off? Not all the EO's Trump just signed? Not Biden handing out pardons to everyone including his own family, not the J6'ers getting out but this...some autistic' guy weird ass heart hand wave. Ho Lee Fuk...it's awesome to see them just meltdown.
They're too stupid and uneducated to even know what is happening. When they see Elon, however, they get activated like an MK ULTRA sleeper cell because THE BAD MAN DID A BAD THING, BAD BAD BADDY BAD DEMOCRACY DIES IN DARKNESS!
Wait until they find out spics are getting deported and that trannies cannot molest women in changing rooms anymore.

Point of gun-tism: The fact that Scalise is still breathing is proof that 7.62x39 is actually kinda shitty for an intermediate rifle round, and is most likely why even the Russians phased it out. Thankfully the commie who did it was using an SKS and not an AR.

I think he's top 40 bullshit, but good that he's not canceled. Not my kind of music at all though.

Give me clocks if this was already lol'ed at. This is Fettermen at the inauguration today.

If he really switches to R the salt will be amazing.
The way elections are going New Jersey flipping swing state and Pennsylvania lean red would be interesting to see in 2026 and 2028 to be honest if current trends continue.
It hasn't been a single day yet, and I already feel like trannies are old news. So beneath us, so behind us, so not worth our time. Hope I don't jinx it in the future, but TTD is such a beautiful thing to see.
Honestly the if performative shit stops from trannies because they're scared of actual pushback I'm cool.

Even though he is clinically retarded I love Fettergrug more and more. Even not wearing suits is growing on me as some post-modernist satire now. Swapping to R would just be the icing on the cake for this thawed out Neanderthal.

What does that mean?
Before, you had a situation where the homegrown actress A was able to find work at X pay, working conditions, etc.
Now you have a situation in which foreign actress B came in and finds work at Y pay, working conditions, etc. where Y < X.
If actress A does not want to work for Y, then that reflects her value scales and preferences. As in, she personally prefers not working at all, rather than working at Y, in this case.
In that instance, she would need to renegotiate her contract and worth or find another studio that would value her labor/talent/values. This is where competition comes in. Let's try this again: another foreign studio tries to undercut the American film industry. How does MGM responds?

But "more profitable"... So the expenses must have gone down more.
In other words, you were able to economize scarce resources (land, production equipment, all sorts of labor involved in movie production) in a way that better reflected the demand of consumers. Because it has become more profitable for you to do that. That's a win for consumers, no?
No, because you're left with limited options of similar quality to where the scarcity of such entertainment would be met with exorbitant pricing or lost media. Say you want to film in Thailand, you'd probably have to pay the country for permits. It's not unreasonable to think that you should be taxed to have their business.

Here's a real-life example: Joan Crawford was a board member of Pepsi-Cola. With that influence, she would stock studio sets that wanted her acting prowess with Pepsi-Co products. That's free publicity for Pepsi with the glamour of Joan Crawford to sell it. Other countries would want a taste of it, which Crawford and Stelle toured worldwide to spread the taste of Pepsi. Maybe Pepsi could build plants in other countries to contribute to their economy to avoid trade barriers.

Which I really understand. I despise the masses for having shit taste, and funding production of lots of crap I dislike. Because the mass market has such shit taste, I have no choice but to pay top dollar for proper artisanal products like great furniture and clothes. I feel your pain if you are suffering the same thing.
Yes, because instead of older women that aged gracefully, I'm stuck with anime porn, hysterical "women" and slander.

At this point Trump has done more to fix the country in one day than Biden has in four years. Congress and the Supreme court better obey the MAGA initiative or everything will be stuck in gridlock like 2016 and absolutely nothing meaningful will get done. If radical change does not come to the US soon we're going to be totally fucked.
