Announcing The Stargate Project

The Stargate Project is a new company which intends to invest $500 billion over the next four years building new Al infrastructure for OpenAl in the United States. We will begin deploying $100 billion immediately. This infrastructure will secure American leadership in Al, create hundreds of thousands of American jobs, and generate massive economic benefit for the entire world. This project will not only support the re-industrialization of the United States but also provide a strategic capability to protect the national security of America and its allies.

The initial equity funders in Stargate are SoftBank, OpenaAl, Oracle, and MGX. SoftBank and OpenAl are the lead partners for Stargate, with SoftBank having financial responsibility and OpenAl having operational responsibility. Masayoshi Son will be the chairman. Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, and OpenAl are the key initial technology partners. The buildout is currently underway, starting in Texas, and we are evaluating potential sites across the country for more campuses as we finalize definitive agreements.

As part of Stargate, Oracle, NVIDIA, and OpenAl will closely collaborate to build and operate this computing system. This builds on a deep collaboration between OpenAl and NVIDIA going back to 2016 and a newer partnership between OpenAl and Oracle.

This also builds on the existing OpenAl partnership with Microsoft. OpenAl will continue to increase its consumption of Azure as OpenAl continues its work with Microsoft with this additional compute to train leading models and deliver great products and services.

All of us look forward to continuing to build and develop Al—and in particular AGI—for the benefit of all of humanity. We believe that this new step is critical on the path, and will enable creative people to figure out how to use Al to elevate humanity.

So, what's all this about? Well after Biden's limp dick response regarding AI the Don said 'fuck this shit' and gave the blessing for this project. Brightest minds in the hemisphere are gonna be working on it. $500 billion for AI. R&D, Infrastructure you name it. $100 billion is going to a data center in Texas. The objective is simple, beat the chinks at their game. They get AGI first? We're screwed. Not much else on it really but this is worth keeping an eye on...

Open source, publishing papers, in fact, do not cost us anything. For technical talent, having others follow your innovation gives a great sense of accomplishment. In fact, open source is more of a cultural behavior than a commercial one, and contributing to it earns us respect. There is also a cultural attraction for a company to do this.

Meanwhile OpenAI will use the $100 billion paid for with your taxes to make closed off models they'll charge people stupid prices for (if they don't pocket it).
Whisper is the last model I know of theirs that they released the weights for.
They've been trying to curb competition in the space for a long time now by rubbing shoulders with politicians with a SHUT IT DOWN view of the tech's "safety". Sad to see all that cash heading their way. Total fags.

Making AGI is a crime against humanity. This is a waste of taxpayer money on the level of funding the Wuhan Lab. We already have the solution to foreign nations trying to develop it, and it's called nuclear missiles. World War III is a preferable alternative to AGI.

Anyone cheering this on who isn't a tech oligarch is absolutely retarded on the highest level. Like you're literally cheering on the technology that will at best result in you, your family, and your descendants permanently becoming bug-eating pod-dwellings serfs for today's billionaires and at worst result in the total extinction of humanity.

I have different ideas. In the end this is not a fight worth having... If we don't make AGI, china will and china will use it to enslave us. The pandora's box been opening, the train's rolling with no one on the driver's seat.

No they won't. Look at the China Brain Project, China's version of DARPA's Project Brain which is meant for neurological warfare capacity and brain computer interfaces. It has run into a host of issues including criticism from one of its top scientists, has about 1 billion dollars a year in funding (compared to like 25 billion a year for Project Brain), and relies extensively on shit Chinese spies stole through people like Charles Lieber. Why would you think China could manufacture their own AI? I guarantee Russia or the EU isn't much better.

Anyone who makes this shit, we will know about it, and at that point we Stuxnet the whole thing, and if we can't do that, we start a nuclear war. It's as simple as that. This isn't closing Pandora's box, it's stopping Pandora's box from being built. There are very few cases of a just war, and even fewer cases of a just nuclear war, but if it exists, it's stopping someone from making AGI.

How are you going to enjoy a provably safe vaccine when you can't even afford it? Individualised treatments like this that'd avoid being 'clot shots' will be in the realm of thousands of dollars given they'd be single-digit batches in such an AI-powered future. Far too expensive for genetically deficient goyim that should be thinned from the herd.

That 1 billion USD in China will take you a lot further than 1 billion USD will in America, it's not just a 1:1 comparison of funding - and that's just the declared funding; undoubtedly like the US there's black budgets also contributing to their nationally significant projects. Certainly not a match for 25 billion, but Chinese slave labour will find a way.

If I can find a dozen websites I can enter a prompt and get art, why would in 20-30 years the government not enter my genes on a supercomputer and shit out a vaxx? And if they can't (:optimistic:), well it's just the global elite living forever in an even worse way than David Rockefeller getting 7 heart transplants before dying at age 101.

The best scientists in China are working overseas, often as spies for the Chinese government. That's why the Confucius Institutes on college campuses base Chinese political agents watching the Chinese professors there. Besides, Chinese scientists still make a good amount. There's just no way they are getting DARPA level funding, hence why they had to bribe Charles Lieber under the Thousand Talents program to get him to pass research to his Chinese "assistants".

Pharma AI is something pretty new that I haven't interacted much in my area of genetics, nor do I plan to, so I'm afraid I can't give you a satisfying explanation beyond the talking points I've heard rattled off. The personalised healthcare revolution is meant to be just around the corner with AI, but I'll believe it when I see it - they said the same thing about next-generation gene sequencing but the biggest use of it was for covid, and right now it's population genome screening like what China and Qatar are doing.

Beyond the myriad of challenges for developing an AI to do that vs one that analyses x-ray scans to diagnose patients, would you really trust the government or any corporation with your genome?

The real thing to be optimistic about is the government having control over such a thing. The pharmaceutical and AI industries will do everything in its power to prevent that scenario, it's why there's currently an arms race amongst the corps to buy up medicinal AI startups that have drug candidate libraries - or if buyouts aren't an option, license them. The sooner you can be cured for cheap the sooner they stop getting your money, so there's the additional profit incentive to keep costs high besides preserving the elites' interests.

You don't need an AI to get tailor-made vaccines, but it'd cost an arm and a leg right now vs what it could cost under an AI-enhanced development regime.
