reddit General

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
A gaming sub I use has now decided that Musk is the ultimate evil and they won't allow us to post any links to Twitter. This is despite the fact that Twitter is where all the big Destiny news comes out on and that is obviously not going to change anytime soon.

Also every thread in which a Twitter ban was discussed is full to bursting with heavily downvoted posts and shit getting deleted. Pretty much if you think the snowflakes are overreacting, get the fuck out.
Same thing in guildwars2. They also updated their "hate-speech" rules.

I've been defending reddit for years as still usable, as long as you stay in nieche interest subreddits and avoid anything politics related.
I guess the cancer finally has metastized.

So the genius mods over at /r/nba and /r/nfl have made the brilliant choice to ban links to Twitter cause Musk bad nazi.

Which is funny because 90% of their content is links to Twitter. The solution? Create bot accounts on Bluesky and aggregate Twitter posts and repost them on the subreddit. Fucking hilarious,

I am planning to officially throw in the towel on Reddit; every aspect of the site is infected with the woke mind virus. Everything from hip-hop subreddits to basketball subreddits to even golf subreddits—literally everything—has become political. I remember the golf subreddit had tons of posts about golfers being bad for supporting Trump. Go to a music subreddit; it's all musicians condemning Trump. You literally can't escape it; it's everywhere.

The only non-woke political subs are r/politicalcompassmeme and the handful of other libertarian subs, along with the dead conservative subreddits, which are just boomer Facebook memes being reposted. The overzealous moderators also run every community; even the college football communities have moderators who ban people for rooting for teams they don't like. It's completely insane. That's not even mentioning how many bot posts are on subreddits like r/AITAH or the transgenders infesting every women's subreddit.

I just wish people would stop using Reddit and instead would start using forums for niche interests again instead of giving Reddit a monopoly on hobbies. I'm also upset about Twitter/X requiring accounts to view content, but that deserves another post discussing it. Overall, Reddit's post-COVID proliferation has been one of the worst things to ever happen to the internet, and its inevitable death will be horrible for hobbyists and information but also well deserved.

I feel it got bad when Ariel Pink's label kicked him out because he said he voted for Trump.

Sadly, the problem of reddit being the first thing you see because of SEO shit means it's hard to do that. First, we have to start with Google's search being broken.

Looking back is crazy to think how redditers were all over Elon just a few years ago and as soon as he switched parties they had such a huge meltdown they want to ban his website off the platform. Either way banning X/twitter links is super cringe and petty.

What reddit is doing is insane, yeah Elon is a fucking retard but they're desperately trying to cling onto an era which is ending. Turns out no one gives a fuck about the nonsense politics they spout. What's gonna happen is, reddit is gonna turn into the new ResetEra

Even the least self aware person should be able to see the obvious astroturf this campaign is by a mod brigade, alt accounts, janny trannies, and bots. You have the deadest subs imaginable springing to life instantly with hundreds of users to all repeat the same verbage in all of their posts. All over something that only that exact demographic would notice or care about to that reaction.

Is there a chance that this could be the beginning of the end for Reddit somehow?

:optimistic:
No not many people directly linked twitter/x I noticed when they would since I don’t use my x account and would have log in just to see a post that wasn’t screen shotted. I’ve had a twitter account since the beginning and was never a huge fan since it’s mostly just status updates or null posting about his weekly book club reading and daily Starbucks posts.

I'd say that Reddit has already "ended" given its propaganda and astroturfing has failed to reach the masses. They were rejected at the ballot box. All the narratives they peddled about the election turned out to be false. The activity is probably majority botted at this point. I wish this thing would cause some infighting between subs but the powermods will clean house soon.

edit: grammar

it looks like just anything that is non confirming just gets deleted. So regarded I wish I had TikTok to see people seeth is the same thing happening there? I haven’t heard anyone talk about musk’s gesture outside of Reddit. It’s almost like this is -gasp- fake news

Agreed, this is the last gasp of a social media site that has any influence aside from being one of the first few results on Goolag search for tech/hobby questions. They can't handle the fact that they lost so definitively at the ballot box and that their ideas are so fringe that they're radicalizing further. Honestly the rhetoric I've seen looks 1:1 with ResetEra now.
