Because self-proclaimed usually also means self-taught, i.e. they never learned how to weigh the value of sources and evidence, and that anecdotal evidence ranks lower than just about anything except for eyewitness testimony.

Then again, even if Alyssa had went to school for journalism I doubt that would stop her making up whatever bullshit bolsters her argument.

[EDIT] I grew up in the era of low bandwidth internet, when friends would organize LAN-parties by renting places to fit 100+ people, then use a bridge holiday weekend for 4 days of non-stop gaming. The number of female attendees who brought their own rig to play was 0. Not a single one during my school days where we regularly met up. Some girlfriends showed up and watched a bit, but in general they were entirely uninterested in this "boy games stuff". Attempts to drag them kicking and screaming to play Unreal Tournament, Quake 3 or Counter-Strike were unsuccessful. Believe it or not, for many teen gamers its an actual dream to have a girlfriend who also plays computer games, because at the time gaming was not very accepted, eSports did not exist, and having a girlfriend to play with you was THE DREAM. Look where we are today.

The new AC will crash hard, because nobody has any interest in playing a made up Nigger Samurai that was made up by a Weeb British guy who was used as "the japan expert" by Ubisoft.

Alyssa can hem and haw all she wants, I am not giving them any money for that trash game, no matter how good the combat is.
And I am pretty sure that a lot of other gamers are thinking the same way.

This is so vague that the same thing could be said about how this list shows that gamers are fed up with woke garbage and so aren't supporting it up the charts.

It's also been so long and she's so brain-addled that Alyssa forgets that the "complaint" is gamers having to pay attention to the culture war and how they didn't want to, while Alyssa and all the other journalists screamed at them that they aren't allowed to ignore it and need to do nothing but pay attention to it. Now she's scoring people ignoring it as a win for her side.
