Good callout of the "logic" being espoused by today's left. The "good liberals" have really gone mask-off about what they think immigrants are for: they're here to work for a wage that is, according to them, below the level of human dignity.

It's really a huge number of people talking smugly about "what will you do now for cheap gardening and childcare and all the restaurant labor?"

If America was only held together by an invisible class of slave laborers, perhaps it's better to rip that band-aid off and figure out a more sustainable way to run the labor force.

I'm waiting for businesses to figure out the same solution they had pre-immigration for picking crops and washing dishes...teenagers. The screaming from the left about how this is exactly like sending kids to the mines to work for scrip will be audible from the Andromeda galaxy.

Sometimes I wonder who in the US would actually own slaves the 1800's way if they could and I always suspect that its the Dems
80% of slave-owning households had one slave who, if a woman, did the housework as a live-in maid, if a man, worked with the husband in his trade, essentially as an in-house employee who could not ever go to work for his competition.

Who has live-in maids these days?
Who abuses the H-1B system to lock workers into their employ?

Not exclusively Dems, but primarily Dems.

"Your country is too far gone, I'm sorry. Canada is just a lousy country, just the worst country, folks. It's so bad up there the government allows you to kill yourself to get away from it, now what makes you think we'd want a country that does that?!"
The indians claim Canada as theirs. We should do the leafs a solid and drop a few bombs to scare them all out.

Isn't there language in the US constitution/ early treaties that allows Canada to join the Union at any time? Didn't Ben Franklin specifically negotiate for that post revolution?
Canada has always had an open invitation to join the Union. The entire methodology of incorporating new States in the Constitution was written specifically for them. There was some serendipity to it, because at the time nobody assumed the USA would actually buy out the French and conquer the Mexicans and end up with a shitload of new territory. But the constitutional law that was created for the incorporation of Canada was very useful in application for the admittance of the territories west of the Mississippi.

Canada has ALWAYS had an open invitation to join the Union, but its the sort of invitation that is left on the front door step in the dead of night. Its an invitation and they don't have too respond too it. But the mechanisms for it happening are there.

I knew I read that somewhere. Legally if parts of Canada start declaring loyalty to the Union, we are pretty well obligated to respond. Ottawa is insane driving away half of their own country right now. The 51st state meme could actually happen and it'd be fully legal

I don't want slavery. And I'm saying that as a literal racist. I don't want a lesser class of illegal people that work horrible jobs in my country just so my prices go down. These jobs should be given to americans and the work conditions improved. Industralize and standardize that shit. I can't believe democrats and literal american senators are defending this angle.

Some lefties are saying they’ll either kill themselves or flee the country

"You don't know if you'll ever be able to leave the country due to new passport laws so you have to choose between your identity and the chance to leave america"

How fucking WEAK can a person be that they make it inconceivable to just get a passport with the "wrong" information temporarily to just fuck off?
Like, it's just a piece of paper, it doesn't go rooting around in your neurons.
This is the revolution against Trump? If all of them were like this (and most of them are) I don't expect a single person to go against Trump again for a while.

Re-watching the rendition of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" being done in the rotunda for the inauguration.

It actually seems very poignant. The Battle Hymn is a very religious song, and its been ignored quite a bit in modern times in favor of more secular songs like America the Beautiful and so on. The fact that it was chosen for such a premier event is definitely a moment in time. Also I love how the singers literally pushed the congressmen blocking their path to the side as they marched in.

Its also important to note that the Hymn is also a prayer in song form. In many respect the US Capital Building was sanctified that day. And not in the way Liberals like to bang on about the sanctity of our institutions and government.
